The Sunflower Conversations podcast - Functional Neurological Disorder and Fibromyalgia with Gabrielle Hine "FND stands for functional neurological disorder. And it is a problem with the brain and the nervous system and how the messages are sent and received in the body. And it's an umbrella term for lots of different symptoms. So, some people may have paralysis, some people may have non-epileptic seizures, they may have trouble with motor skills. So, it's a wide-ranging term for lots of different symptoms, but predominantly to do with the brain and how the nervous system interacts with the body, really. So, it's a bit like if you had a letter and you addressed the letter perfectly, and then the letter, for some reason, ended up in a different household.." Gabrielle shares her life-altering journey with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and fibromyalgia. Gabby experiences symptoms such as paralysis, non-epileptic seizures and blindness daily. Gabby paints a vivid picture of how these misfired signals within her nervous system have reshaped her life, leading to a cascade of challenges like anxiety and not being able to work. 🎙️🌐 LISTEN to the full episode https://bit.ly/3UBUzJE If you like this podcast please subscribe and share. 🌻 #FND #FunctionalNeurologicalDisorder #Fibromyalgia #TheSunflowerConversations #Podcast

A discreet way for individuals with invisible disabilities to indicate that they may need additional help or more time.
About us
Wear the Sunflower Lanyard when you need additional support or a little more time Not all disabilities are visible – some are not immediately obvious, such as autism, dementia, anxiety, visual or hearing impairment. People with visual or hearing disabilities do not always wear glasses or hearing aids. Those with joint problems or chronic pain may not always use mobility aids. Although the hidden disability can make daily living more challenging for many people, it can be difficult for others to recognise or acknowledge. Others may not understand the cause of the problem, if they cannot see evidence of it in a visible way. The Sunflower Lanyard makes you visible If you have hidden disabilities and require assistance, wearing the green Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard indicates that you need additional support or just a little more time. Our Sunflower Lanyard has been purposefully designed to acts as a discreet sign to staff and work colleagues that the wearer has a hidden disability and requires additional assistance. It has become the established symbol for hidden disabilities globally and has been successfully introduced to airports, supermarkets, railway stations and sports venues.

World Menopause Day Menopause awareness has grown in recent years due to the relentless work of Davina McColl, Dr Louise News Newson Health and other menopause advocates. Now is the time to push awareness to the next level and raise awareness of chemical and surgical menopause and the reasons why it can occur. We are pleased to support the Menstrual Health Project charity and the #MenopauseImpactsAll campaign. The issue with invisible disabilities, like endometriosis and adenomyosis, and the symptoms of menopause is that you cannot see them. Therefore, empathy and understanding are often not there. Get involved with the campaign because menopause not only impacts the individual, but those around them too; family members, colleagues and friends. It's a collective responsibility to understand and support those going through menopause. 🎙️ The Sunflower Conversations podcast 🌻 🎙️ PMDD and Chemical Menopause with Amani Omejer 🎙️ Perimenopause and Menopause with Dr Lousie Newson 🎙️ Perimenopause and Menopause with Fay Durrant 🎧 Listen, share and subscribe here: https://bit.ly/373paXZ ALT: 1. The Sunflower Conversations podcast - Cerebral Palsy with Richard Luke, Scope and Karen Watson, CP Adult Advice UK "So, there’s a lot of work we still need to do, as a society, to utilise the talented people we have in our disabled community, including the cerebral palsy community, because it’s such a waste. We’ve got these brilliant people that can’t get a foothold and help make a difference in our society." Richard Luke, Scope Richard Luke from Scope and Karen Watson from Cerebral Palsy (CP) Adult Advice Service UK joined the podcast to answer questions from the Sunflower community about CP. It is bursting with information from what CP is, to stereotypes and shedding light on the real experience of living with CP and examine the gaps in healthcare, education, and employment. 🎙️🌐 LISTEN to the full episode https://bit.ly/4h1LxPO If you like this podcast please subscribe and share. 🌻 Support: * Cerebral Palsy Foundation Ireland https://bit.ly/3BHd8G0 * In 4 Kids https://bit.ly/3Y1MuPt #CerebralPalsy #WorldCerebralPalsyDay #UniquelyDifferent #TheSunflowerConversations #Podcast #EDI #DEI #EmploymentGap

We invite charities and advocates to present to our team. Over time, we will increase the range of non-visible conditions in our Invisible disabilities index. For World Cerebral Palsy Day, we invited Richard Luke from the charity Scope and Karen Watson from Cerebral Palsy Adult Advice UK to help us learn more about cerebral palsy. We learnt that: 🌻 Cerebral Palsy is lifelong. It is not just a childhood condition 🌻 Cerebral Palsy is a neurological condition that causes physical challenges. 🌻 Early diagnosis and therapy are key to good outcomes 🌻 Globally around 17 million people are living with Cerebral Palsy. There is a stigma around disability which means that young people and adults face barriers to employment and a social life. There are many misconceptions about Cerebral Palsy (CP), but with access to the right support, people living with CP can overcome societal barriers and live the life they choose. 🌐 Support - Cerebral Palsy Ireland: https://bit.ly/3BHd8G0 ALT: A green graphic with a yellow Sunflower.
