Interesting Q3 US startup valuations stats from Drew O'Sullivan - thank you for sharing!
Founders - fresh data here from Q3 on startup valuations and round sizes. Data comes from companies using Carta cap table, US startups only. Before you ask: we don't have final figures on number of rounds for each stage. We will in about 3 weeks (there's a little data lag in that total round count). I expect Q3 round activity to come in a little below Q2 overall. Full report here: carta.com/data 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 • This is priced round seeds only (about 50% of seeds now happen through SAFEs) • Seed on SAFEs is fairly similar at $20M post-money valuation cap • Median pre-money valuation hit $15M for a primary seed round - that's historically pricey, but does not account for inflation • Median cash raised is now $3.8M • Yes, this is influenced by a large number of AI rounds (25%-35% of all seed activity) 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗔 • $46M pre-money median valuations, approaching the all-time highs. • Pretty solid jump up from Q2 after a few quarters of flat valuations • Median cash of $11M raised • Looking like round volume in the A range will drop from Q2 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗕 • $100M median pre-money valuations in Q3 • Drop from the $115M median in Q2, ends a streak of 3 quarters of increases • Median cash: $17M • Not exhibiting the same enthusiasm as the seed / Series A stages ...what is happening in US venture? I think things are fairly expensive from a valuation standpoint, but the lower round activity means VCs are still being very picky about which founders they back. AI remains a tailwind but distinctions are being made between infra AI and everything else. Crystal ball says we shouldn't expect a gigantic revival in total investment for the rest of the year, but hey maybe IPOs come back. Fingers crossed! #startups #valuations #founders #venturecapital Be sure to get all this data and much more in our Q3 First Cut report - live now at the link in graphic.

HBAN welcomes key announcements in #Budget2025 that significantly bolster the angel investment landscape in Ireland. Capital Gains Tax Relief: The lifetime limit on gains eligible for reduced Capital Gains Tax has been increased from €3 million to €10 million. EIIS Relief Limit: The cap for claiming tax relief under the Employment Investment Incentive Scheme (EIIS) has doubled from €500,000 to €1,000,000. Advocacy for CLN and SAFE Notes under EIIS: One of our key budgetary recommendations with ScaleIreland was to include Convertible Loan Notes (CLN) and SAFE notes as permissible instruments under the EIIS scheme. While this was not addressed in the budget, we remain hopeful that this detail may be included in the Finance Bill. We will monitor developments closely. Acknowledgment: We’d like to express our appreciation to Scale Ireland for their extensive advocacy work, which has been instrumental in bringing about these positive changes. We will continue to collaborate with them under our Alliance for Innovation. These are meaningful steps forward for angel investment policies in Ireland. At HBAN, we look forward to the positive impact these changes will bring to our members and the broader angel and startup ecosystem. #Budget2025 #AngelInvesting #EIIS #StartupIreland
