About us

Fota Wildlife Park was opened in 1983. Located in the south of Ireland, in County Cork, the park is set on 100 acres, and is home to nearly 30 mammal and 50 bird species. Many of the animals roam freely with the visitors, such as the ring-tailed lemurs and squirrel monkeys. The larger animals, including the giraffe and bison, live in spacious paddocks with unobtrusive barriers. This allows visitors to enjoy an up close and personal experience with the animals.Fota Wildlife Park aims to be a leading contributor to the conservation of wildlife through conservation education, the breeding of endangered species and the promotion of conservation worldwide.

Join us on 9th November for a captivating evening of music with Cascade Strings, a talented Cork-based string quartet, as they present classical interpretations of feline-themed favourites like Eye of the Tiger and The Lion Sleeps Tonight! The concert is held in support of big cat conservation organisations such as the Wildcats Conservation Alliance and Fota’s own endangered species breeding programmes and conservation support for Asian lion, Sumatran tiger and the Northern cheetah.

We were thrilled to have TELUS International Ireland with us in the Wildlife Park this summer! Almost 100 volunteers joined us for their TELUS Day of Giving event, transforming our Education Centre's garden space into a beautiful 'Serenity Garden', laying wildflower, and working on animal spaces around the Park. Roger Clancy, TELUS International Ireland's VP of Operations and General Manager, said: “As part of our TELUS Days of Giving activities this year, we are delighted to partner with one of Ireland’s most popular and well-loved visitor attractions, Fota Wildlife Park. We are truly inspired by the Park’s core values of conservation, education, and research to foster greater public understanding of the threats to plant and animal habitats and decreasing global biodiversity.” “Volunteering and charitable giving are a core element of TELUS International, and a big draw for employees to our organisation for both philanthropic and personal reasons. Since 2007, we have helped 1.2 million people through these activities, and we only have plans to keep this up. TELUS Days of Giving events across the globe bring together team members and retirees, families and friends in each of the regions where TELUS International operates to make a powerful and positive impact in their local communities.” Not only did the TELUS International Ireland team work tirelessly on the day, but also a phenomenal amount of work from the team organising the projects!

💚💜 TELUS Days of Giving 2024 at Fota Wildlife Park 💜💚 What a day we had Fota Wildlife Park on June 28th for our biggest #GiveWhereWeLive event of the year. Almost 100 dedicated team member volunteers transformed a disused green space, neighbouring Fota's recently opened Education Centre, into a brand new serenity garden. This area will provide park visitors with a quiet place to go and relax in, as well as being a valuable resource for school groups. Some of the tasks included; planting wildflowers and native plants, laying pathways, painting and cleaning the animal enclosures. In addition to the hard work, our team members were treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the park, where they got the opportunity to get up close and personal to some of the magnificent animals, while learning about the ongoing conservation efforts. We couldn't have achieved any of this without our fantastic team members. Their commitment to giving back underscores the importance of supporting the communities where we live, work, and serve. Lastly, a special thank you to Anne Hamilton, Garden Designer, for her exquisite landscaping expertise, and to all of the staff at Fota for their help both in the lead-up, and on the day itself! #TELUSDaysofGiving2024
