☀ 43% increase in Ireland's Solar Capacity with c. 65 homes per day adding Solar PV. According to the 2024 'Scale of Solar' report from the Irish Solar Energy Association (ISEA), there has been an almost 43 per cent increase in Ireland’s solar power generation capacity, with a significant portion of this capacity increase attributable to residential homes. Despite our northerly latitude, Ireland has huge potential to generate electricity from solar PV and Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) grants have accelerated adoption beyond expectations, leading to a 'solar revolution'. Read more in this special report by the The Irish Times: https://lnkd.in/edjHf7-M 🚀 This rapid adoption of solar can only mean positive things for wholesale electricity prices, but how do we manage the obvious 'daylight hours only' challenge? At EpiSensor, we've developed technology that enables businesses and utilities to intuitively manage electricity demand, using real-world data to drive efficiencies and maximise the potential of renewable sources. Another piece of the puzzle finished! This EpiSensor-designed mPCIe Zigbee card will sit in our next generation Gateway alongside similar Cellular and LoRaWAN modules. It will also have Ethernet, RS-485 and CANbus - covering the full spectrum of “communications to and from energy things”. The coolest part is that EpiSensor Edge software treats all of these communications links in the same way, so you can monitor with Zigbee, and take action with RS-485/Modbus, or any other combination you can think of. EpiSensor is building the world’s most advanced, user friendly IoT infrastructure for the energy transition, so we can integrate more renewables into our electricity system and improve efficiency. I’m more excited about the utility of the stuff we’re building than ever 🚀

"By investing in renewable energy sources and innovative technologies that make data centres more energy-efficient, we could position Ireland as a global leader in both sectors." Harry Goddard, CEO, Deloitte Ireland. With so much debate on Ireland's #datacentre future, it's refreshing to see a different take in this latest The Irish Times opinion piece. We would add that the technology needed to achieve this vision is already available—and in action. EpiSensor’s Demand Response Controller is behind some of Ireland’s most advanced data centre energy efficiency programmes. Our systems enable real-time energy monitoring and control, empowering facilities to respond dynamically to demand, reducing grid stress, and maximising the use of renewables. Megawatt Energy Flexibility for Industry & Utilities at Entelios

There you go: My full dissertation on non-residential demand response (DR) and its role in the energy transition. 🔋⚡ My research aims to help large energy consumers with local multi-energy systems adopt renewable energy and leverage DR for enhanced operational flexibility. DR enables consumers to adjust their energy consumption in response to incentives, facilitating renewable energy integration while reducing costs and emissions. To address the challenges in quantifying DR's economic and environmental benefits, I developed tools such as the Elmada and DRAF software, which I applied to real-world case studies. The results clearly demonstrate that smart use of flexibility significantly reduces both decarbonization costs and emissions. At Entelios AG, I'm now applying these methods and insights to drive large-scale energy flexibility for a sustainable future. For more details, including access to the full dissertation and presentation, please refer to the DOI link on the first white page. Stay tuned for updates on energy flexibility and the ongoing energy transition.

The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) has published the second consultation paper on ESB Networks Demand Flexibility Product procurement initially released in July 2024. Forming part of Ireland's National Energy Demand Strategy, this is another step forward in advancing Ireland's flexibility network. Read more from Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) below 👇 At EpiSensor, we are proud to provide the technology that makes scalable energy flexibility possible. Discover more about our advanced demand response IoT solutions and smart grid insights at www.episensor.com. #ESB #energyflexibility

The CRU published a Decision Paper on ESB Networks Demand Flexibility Product Procurement in July 2024. In this decision, the CRU approved the Distribution System Operator’s (DSO) procurement proposal to procure up to 500 MW of medium-term flexibility products, with the objective of congestion management on the distribution network. The decision also required ESBN to conduct a second consultation on specific details of the demand flexibility product arrangements. The CRU has published the second consultation to gather stakeholder’s views on the arrangements of the procured products. This is intended to form a component of the overarching National Energy Demand Strategy (NEDS) with the aim of achieving the government’s flexibility target, while providing the foundations for the development of long-term, competitive flexibility markets in Ireland. a few weeks ago, I wrote a 23 page whitepaper on one of the most boring subjects on earth: what to look out for when you're buying electricity meters for commercial / industrial sites. It's something I know a bit about, because EpiSensor has been designing really good ones for 10 years. And it's important, because most people buying them don't know what to look out for... Any why would they? They just want to save money and improve sustainability. ...but what about a 14 minute podcast? Here's that 23 page whitepaper, compressed into a podcast - 100% AI generated. It's absolutely wild how good this is. If you're in the market for a great electricity monitoring system, check it out - or tag someone below who might be interested. And if you're interested in the profound changes coming down the track with AI, also check it out ;) Built with NotebookLM ( 👀 Logan Kilpatrick) by Google and Descript
