Exciting times, breaking ground and the commencement of construction on the new €40m Maldron Hotel at Croke Park by McAleer & Rushe and in conjuction with the GAA. Designed to achieve a ‘BREEAM Very Good Rating’, the modern hotel will comprise 200-bedrooms, a business centre, a state-of-the-art gym, a bar and restaurant as well as environmental features such as green roofs, air source heat pumps and EV charging points. The development is expected to open to the public in 2026 delivering a modern 4-star hotel offering high-quality accommodation. Yesterday, Clayton Hotel Silver Springs celebrated being open for 60 years. They first opened on Thursday 16th of July, 1964. Over the years they have welcomed people like Paul Newman, Robin Williams, Liam Neeson and Cork native Roy Keane. Irish Presidents Mary Robinson and Mary McAleese have also stayed at the hotel. Our General Manager Tracy Newman, whose mother also worked in the hotel, said: “So many people have such great memories of this hotel, and it is looked upon with fondness by the people of Cork and beyond. As the hotel turns 60, we are proud to be able to deliver our personable brand of hospitality. From small gestures to going the extra mile, we pride ourselves on providing a real personal touch.".
