This morning, Paul O'Callaghan delivered an inspiring keynote "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻", marking the start of an exciting week here in Leeuwarden at the #EuropeanWaterTechnologyWeek 💧 As he delved into the crucial contrast between 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲-𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀-𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, it became clear how the pace of adoption in the water sector can double when driven by crises. However, value-driven innovation, while slower, often brings about more sustainable, long-term advancements. Paul highlighted examples like UV disinfection—adopted not due to a crisis but because of its superior value in eliminating harmful by-products without chemicals. The water sector’s slow technology adoption, taking 12-15 years on average, needs to be reexamined. We aim to accelerate innovation timelines through knowledge and research, as discussed in Paul’s book, co-authored with Prof. Cees Buisman and Lakshmi Manjoosha Adapa, PhD MBA, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, published by Brave Blue World Foundation in association with Wageningen University & Research and BlueTech Research. We’re thrilled to have launched the book with immense interest from students, technology providers, academics, and water utility representatives! 📖 The book is now available for purchase: https://lnkd.in/dpw8aCPT Join us as we reshape the future of water technology through value-driven solutions! 💡 Wetsus, European Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Water Technology #WaterInnovation #EuropeanWaterTechWeek #EWTW24 #booklaunch #SustainableWater #InnovationLeadership
