About us

About Applegreen: Applegreen is proud to be an Irish company and a true Irish success story. From humble beginnings in 1992, Applegreen started with the opening of our first service station in Ballyfermot, West Dublin. From there, under the stewardship of Chairman Bob Etchingham and CEO Joe Barrett, Applegreen expanded in Ireland, growing year on year. As of April 2022, the business operates 620 forecourt sites and employs circa 15,000 people across Ireland, UK and America. To this day, Applegreen is still under the guardianship of Bob and Joe and supported by our dedicated team in our headquarters in Dublin. Over the last 30 years, our brand reputation and success has been earned through quality retail and value offerings, including our ‘low fuel prices, always’ promise and our 100% traceable and quality assured fuel. Enterprise Ireland CEO Leo Clancy and Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment, Peter Burke, T.D., celebrated the dynamic growth and expansion of Applegreen in the United States during an East Coast Trade Mission this week to New York & Boston. Minister Burke performed the official opening of Applegreen’s travel plaza (motorway service area) at Ardsley in New York today with members of Applegreen’s senior US leadership team, Zack Kollias, Matthew Scally, and Michael Levy. Enterprise Ireland’s Marisa Spellman Mannion, SVP of Construction & Engineering US and Rory Power, SVP & East Coast Manager were also on hand to extend their continued support in market. Ardsley, which is about 30 miles north of New York City, is one of 27 travel plazas on the New York Thruway that are operated by Applegreen. Applegreen is currently investing $450 million to upgrade all 27 plazas on the Thruway, building 23 new plaza developments and refurbishing four existing sites. Eighteen of the plazas have already been completed, and the remainder are due to be finished in the first quarter of next year. The investment program is being entirely funded by Applegreen and its partners and does not rely on either toll funds or US State or Government funding. Each travel plaza has an Applegreen convenience store, and a range of branded food and coffee outlets, all of which are operated by Applegreen under franchise or licence agreements. Applegreen has more than 7,000 employees in the United States, where it operates an extensive network of travel plazas and gas filing stations across 10 states.  #ConnectWithIrishInnovation #GoingGlobal #USAExpansion #ei_usa #irishinnovation Enterprise Ireland Applegreen Applegreen (US) Welcome Centers Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment David Crisfulla Pat Saragganonda Peter Burke Leo Clancy Rory Power Marisa Spellman Mannion Zack Kollias Michael Levy Matthew Scally
