Matt Squire adalah seorang penulis lagu dan produser musik multi-platinum. Dia pernah menjadi produser, teknisi, sekaligus menulis lagu untuk 3OH!3, Good Charlotte, New Boyz, Selena Gomez, David Archuleta, Taking Back Sunday, The Used, All Time Low, Panic! at the Disco, Boys Like Girls, The Cab, dan Northstar.
Matt Squire lahir di Washington, D.C. pada tanggal 7 Mei 1976 dari pasangan John Squire dan Lynn Zwerin. Dia telah menunjukkan ketertarikan terhadap musik sejak dini. Dia mendapatkan gitar pertamanya saat berusia 8 tahun dan kemudian mulai belajar drum secara otodidak pada usia 10 tahun. Squire bersekolah di Georgetown Day School dan lulus pada tahun 1994. Dia kemudian memasuki Boston University hingga lulus pada 1999.
Sebelum menjadi produser, Squire pernah bermain di beberapa band, seperti Ashes, Miltown, The Dubnicks, Long Distance Runner dan The Rise Park. Setelah band After The Rise Park bubar, Squire merekam beberapa demo untuk The Explosion. Segera setelah itu, dia mulai bekerja bersama produser Paul Q. Kolderie. Squire dan Kolderie kemudian bekerja sama membuka kembali Fort Apache Studio di Boston dengan nama Camp Street Studio. Pada akhir 2004, Squire pindah ke daerah Washington, D.C. untuk membuka SOMD Studio di College Park, Maryland. Setelah kembali ke kampung halamannya itu, Squire bertemu kembali dengan Alexandra Mackler. Squire dan Mackler sendiri adalah teman semasa SMA dan kuliah. Sebelum pernikahannya pada Mei 2007, Squire pindah ke rumah baru dekat dengan College Park dan membuka ulang SOMD Studio di rumahnya. Setelah sukses di Maryland, Squire kemudian pindah ke Los Angeles. Saat ini, Squire masih tetap menjalankan SOMD Studio di Maryland dan juga bekerja sebagai produser di Los Angeles.
Matt Squire dikenal dekat dengan power pop dan pop punk. Dia memiliki ketangkasan mencari artis papan bawah dan kemudian membantu mereka memperbaiki musikalitas mereka. Dalam bekerja, Squire selalu berusaha dekat dengan artisnya. Dia dikenal sebagai produser ringan tangan yang sering memberikan saran musikal maupun lirikal. Dia juga sering membantu menulis lagu untuk para artisnya.
Walaupun dia sangat dikenal atas kesuksesannya dalam kancah musik pop punk, dia telah mecoba bekerja dengan artis dari genre lain seperti Katy Perry, 3OH!3, Selena Gomez, New Boyz, The Used, HIM, dan David Archuleta. Dia juga bekerja pada versi Amerika dari acara televisi The X Factor.
