Lymantriidae adalah familia ngengat. Fase ulat, atau larva, dari spesies ini memiliki ciri fisik yang khas, yaitu rambut-rambut yang dapat menimbulkan reaksi yang membuat gatal apabila bersentuhan dengan kulit manusia.
Yang termasuk ke dalam Familia Lymantriidae ada lebih dari 350 genera dan lebih dari 2.500 spesies di seluruh dunia di kelima benua. Kebanyakan dari spesies-spesies Lymantriidae berada di sub-Sahara Afrika, India, Asia Tenggara, dan Amerika Selatan.
