Latar belakang

Setelah Anne of Green Gables (1908), novel ini menceritakan bagian kedua kehidupan Anne Shirley. Novel ini mengisahkan Anne dari usia 16 sampai 18 tahun, semasa menjadi guru di sekolah Avonlea. Sebagian besar karakter dari Anne of Green Gables masih muncul, serta sejumlah karakter baru seperti Mr. Harrison, Miss Lavendar Lewis, Paul Irving, dan si kembar Dora dan Davy.
