Accademia del Cimento

Accademia del Cimento (Akademi Eksperimen), sebuah perhimpunan saintifik awal, didirikan di Firenze pada 1657 oleh murid-murid Galileo, Giovanni Alfonso Borelli dan Vincenzo Viviani dan berdiri selama sekitar satu dekade kemudian. Pembentukan Akademi tersebut didanai oleh Pangeran Leopoldo dan Adipati Agung Ferdinando II de' Medici. Kegiatan-kegiatan perhimpunan tersebut meliputi:^[1]

Sebuah publikasi ’Saggi di naturali esperienze fatte nell'Academia del Cimento sotto la protezione del Serenissimo Principe Leopoldo di Toscan e descritte dal segretario di essa Accademia pertama kali diterbitkan pada 1666, kemudian diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Latin pada 1731. Buku tersebut menjadi paduan laboratorium standar pada abad ke-18.
