In order to meet Indonesia’s electricity demand growth, which is expected to increase an average of 6.86 % every year (ref: Electricity Supply Business Plan / RU PTL 2018-2027), efficient, reliable, economical and clean sources of power generation are required. KTT ASEAN Jakarta, 7 September 2023 Green Ammonia and Green Hydrogen for Power Plants of the future – PART 2 In the event of the ASEAN Summit Business Round Table which were attended by leaders and cabinet ministers of Korea and Indonesia, PT Indo Raya Tenaga (“IRT”), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with Doosan Enerbility to conduct a study for joint development plan and roadmap for demand and supply of green ammonia in Indonesia. This MOU is part of Jawa 9 & 10’s management effort, to extend its capability as hybrid power plant having the highest green ammonia firing capability (due to implementation of SCR to control NOx emission), and then to go the extra mile in answering challenges of generating demand and supply chain of green ammonia in Indonesia. This MOU is a follow up to the final study of maximizing the utilization of Green Ammonia as possible alternative fuel source for Jawa 9 & 10 power plant, recently being carried out by Doosan, after the positive result from the study 60% ammonia Co-firing on Jawa 9&10 Boiler, previously conducted by IRT and PLN Enjiniring since the November 2022 as initiated in the Bali B20 event. This seriousness in developing Indonesia’s green ammonia and green hydrogen market was witnessed and supported by Korean and Indonesian Government. The study would hopefully be able to conclude the inclusion of green ammonia and green hydrogen as one of the key programs in the Indonesian energy transition roadmap to net zero.

Chang Won, 23 August 2023 Green Ammonia and Green Hydrogen for Power Plants of the Future – PART 1 Within the work visit to Korea together with PLN and PLNIP; PT Indo Raya Tenaga, the owner and operator of Jawa 9 & 10 USC-R project, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with Doosan Enerbility to conduct a final study of maximizing the utilization of Green Ammonia as possible alternative fuel source for Jawa 9 & 10 power plant. Green ammonia or green hydrogen is primary energy source which emits zero carbon in its production and utilization and is one of the solutions for energy transition that has been in adopted by developed countries as fuel for power plants and fuel cell vehicles. From the work visit to KEPRI’s and Doosan’s test facilities and to KOMIPO’s USC-R power plant in Korea, it was concluded that utilizing green Ammonia and green hydrogen for power generation is one of the key programs in the energy transition roadmap to net zero being pursued by the Korean government. “Presently, Doosan is implementing the optimization of Ammonia burner with a target of commercial stage by 2027”, said the CEO of Doosan Power Service in his opening remarks during the visit to development and production facility of Doosan Enerbility in Changwon, Korea. It should be noted that in 14 November 2022, during B20 event in Bali, PT Indo Raya Tenaga has started a joint study with PT PLN Enjiniring, for which the study concluded that utilization of green ammonia as fuel source up to 60% is suitable Jawa 9 & 10 boiler which has been equipped with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction). SCR is very essential in reducing NOx emission resulting from Ammonia Co-firing above 20%. Although the theoretical demand is present, it was recognized that the main challenge lies on its supply chain.
