hayatinya.
Zoos are crucial partners in protecting the future of orangutans in Borneo. And the truth is, we wouldn't be celebrating a baby boom without them.
Still, orangutans are Critically Endangered. We need more babies and for that we need more healthy rainforest.
Protecting and restoring forests is what we're all about, but we need to do more.
Can you or your local zoo help us too? Tag them below!

Today we celebrate #InternationalOrangutanDay for very good reason 🦧
In the last 12 months alone, not one, not two, but 3 baby orangutans have been born close to one of our camps in Borneo's peat-swamp rainforests.
Borneo is officially home to the world's largest population of orangutans; another reason why we must unite to protect Borneo any way we can.
We know that when communities are resilient, when forests are healthy and when ecosystems are balanced - life thrives.
This baby boom is proof that our connected approach to conservation works.
We're going to keep fighting to protect biodiversity, all biodiversity, and to restore rainforest in Borneo.
Share this post to spread the positive news and inspire conservation action in your friends and family!
A big thanks to our family who continue to support us to do incredible things in rainforest: Borneo Nature Foundation, The Orangutan Project, Orangutan Appeal UK, Orangutan Land Trust, The Orangutan Conservancy, Orangutan Outreach and many more! 💚

It is #InternationalCloudedLeopardDay!🐆
The Endangered Bornean clouded leopard is an arboreal species and excellent hunter on the ground that plays an important role in maintaining the forest #ecosystem.
Irrespective of camera traps, clouded leopards are very rare to see in the wild. Their vulnerability towards extinction is increased by their low recruitment rate, meaning that less adults produce and raise offspring which live long enough to join the breeding population at two years old.🌿
As a forest-dependent species, habitat loss from #deforestation has reduced the population. The fact that offspring are present in Tanjung Puting National Park demonstrates it is an optimum habitat for their population.🌳
It is important to protect the forests to enable a safe #environment for them to thrive.

It’s #WorldRainforestDay! Did you know...
🐸 Half of the world’s biodiversity can be found in rainforests
🌳 Rainforests absorb and store up to 30% of global carbon emissions
🌏 Scientists agree that protecting rainforests is critical to ensuring a climate-stable future
📉 Only 36% of our planet’s original rainforests remain intact
Today and every day, we celebrate these critical ecosystems and their guardians. We can all do more #forRainforests. Join us.

It's in your lungs.
It's in your fridge, your medicine cabinet and your local weather forecast.
All of this depends on the health of our planet and, most crucially, its tropical forests.
Just as these forests have a major impact on your day-to-day life, so, too, can you play a role in their conservation.
Everything is connected.
It may be thousands of miles away, but Borneo is much closer than you think...
🌍 EARTH DAY 🌍
An important reminder that we are all connected to the planet we call home...
Here at the zoo, we are connected to Borneo and so are YOU!
🌏 Borneo is the third largest island in the world, home to the oldest rainforest and HUNDREDS of unique species of plants and animals
🦧 Many of these species are endangered and critically endangered, due to human action, like the Bornean orangutan we care for here at the zoo
🌴 It is one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, making it vitally important, and thanks to YOU, we are protecting it for future generations
🧡 Because of your support of Twycross Zoo, we are able to help Borneo Nature Foundation International protect the island and it's species through community-led conservation, research and education projects
We are ALL connected 🌍🤝🦧
