remember that time you worked in the food court of a school that you weren't attending only because you couldn't afford it? well, i do. let me tell you about it.

i think this counts as a zine cause i made it in a text editor on my phone during finals week in order to Cope™️. an earlier version of this piece was included in Distance Yearning 6.

if you're having trouble viewing the zine on mobile, try requesting the desktop version of the website (Safari: found under the "aA" button in the URL bar at the top of the window; Chrome: found under the "..." button in the upper right corner of the window; Other: idk man figure it out). if this doesn't help, leave a comment below with a screenshot of the issue & i'll fix whatever thing's broken.

I love this d, reminded me of my time as a barista. Your story telling is brilliant as always

Dude this is awesome! And speaks to a super relatable experience (as I write from the foodbooth i work at). Can I ask how you made this? It's super cool and I love that it's mobile friendly

aw thanks nur. i appreciate that coming from you. i made 100% of this on my phone, & everything except the bg image (put an image thru ditherit.com to get that good, crunchy look i love) & the tilt put on the tiles (javascript lifted from Pippin Barr's website & cranked  up) is stuff you can do in html/css pretty straightforwardly. the window itself is a set of three divs nested inside of each other.

the css for that:

OMG dh thanks so much for your in-depth response!!! You're amazing and I really appreciate your work and kindness. Thank you so much, i def might try to make something like this if you don't mind haha i could use the html and css practice for sure!

do it! i was using this largely as a way to try to make something purely html/css/js, w/o relying on twine or bitsy or unity what have you. now i feel like i have a better handle on what i can do to make a twine game look less like a twine game lol. good luck designing!

Ah dude that's awesome! I totally FEEL the want to not rely on twine or any other engine. Looking forward to more of your work! Your prowess with twine is hella inspiring

hey dh! I'm co-hosting a jam with shufPoetry and just wanted to let you know that we've listed your game as one of the ones people can look to for "poetic inspiration." Is this okay? hope you are well! this is the jam page if you wanna see it: itch.io/jam/shufpoetry-jam
