Building a product for an investor vs. building it for the end client - what are the differences? Can you do both? Yes and no. If you are building to essentially get your idea sold, you might be catering to one specific person’s needs, rather than a dedicated customer group. Perhaps the investor has a specific bias, or some lived experience that defines their whole understanding of the idea, and if you want to sell it to them alone, you will have to morph the idea or product into what they want. If you, however, are building a product or a service for the end customer, you will be more ear-to-the-ground and looking for feedback and the customer’s opinion. The problem here is, sometimes your audience doesn’t always know what’s good for it, and it takes for a direction and a drive to steer that. If they could have it their way, any product would be free of charge, but this isn’t good for business. So, what gives? You. If you want to do 50/50 and balance this out, you can. Just be aware of the extremes on both ends and aim to stay in the middle. What do you think about this? Comment below! #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurs #entrepreneur

“Oh, but they wouldn’t know. I’m working here over 20 hours a day, grinding months without end, what can they possibly have on me?” You must have heard this a few times now. Perhaps not verbatim, but in a similar thought process. I am better. I am bigger. I am working harder. All traits that will eventually lead to one’s downfall. There are always two sides to the coin, and while being competitive can be good for your business, that won’t be the case for your relationships. Being a good entrepreneur isn’t equal to being a good person. What do you think? #entrepreneurlife #balance

A Reddit user asked: “I find myself at a crossroad: should I dive headfirst into entrepreneurship now, learning lessons along the way, or should I first gain experience by working for other businesses and then venture into starting my own in a few years' time? “ There is a simple answer to this, and it is - you decide. There are benefits to both, but do keep in mind that you will likely only be able to start paying yourself a salary between 1-3 years after starting your business, if you want to do things right. If you are in need of financial support now, it would make much more sense to start in corporate. Also, there are a lot of things to learn there that you can use and carry over to your startup later on, such as structuring, processes and communications. A startup might give more freedom now but it will also be harder to set up unless you already have some funding or savings to help carry you for a period of time. What would you advise this person?
