We are excited to announce the main program for POV Budapest this year! Additional side events will be shared on our platforms as they are confirmed. For updates and changes, please check our website, as it will be promptly updated. Each afternoon (Sept 19-20), we have four blocks of 30 to 45-minute presentations, with 30-minute breaks in between for networking, enjoying drinks at our bar, or grabbing a bite at our food stall. On the second day (Sept 20. Friday), we’ll have morning programs including workshops and roundtable discussions. More details and registration links will be shared soon. After the sessions on the second day, join us for an official after-party at one of the city’s hottest venues. We’re also preparing a map of our favorite spots in Budapest, with our guidance to discover the city. If you arrive early, you can pick it up at one of our distribution locations. Can’t wait to see you all! 🎟️ Grab your tickets at https://lnkd.in/dFibtRjb Illustration: Marcell Kazsik

Step back in time at Budapest’s Bambi Eszpresszó, one of the most iconic gems since 1961! Located at Frankel Leó út 2-4, this café is a living snapshot of the 60s, complete with red faux leather chairs and domino-playing regulars. The café’s authentic décor, including original mosaic tiles on the floor and walls, and timeless menu transport you to a bygone era, offering a unique coffee and gastronomic experience of the communist era in the heart of Buda. Inside, the original counter and furniture add to its vintage allure. Located in a striking post-war building, the architectural design enhances its appeal. The building’s stone and plaster facades highlight its mid-century charm. We’re excited to partner with KÉK-Kortárs Építészeti Központ / Contemporary Architecture Centre - to offer deeper insights into Budapest’s built visual culture. KÉK is a leading institution focused on architecture, the built environment, and urban development. Beyond the city of Budapest, you’ll discover villages lined with Kádár Cubes, iconic of the transformed Hungarian countryside during the ‘goulash-communism’ era. This period marked Hungary’s relative cultural freedom and highest living standards within the Soviet bloc, blending diverse elements and moving away from strict Marxist-Leninist principles. Budapest’s Ludwig Museum - Museum of Contemporary Art presents a comprehensive exhibition on this period. It explores the cultural and architectural evolution of these self-built homes from the late 1950s to the late 1970s. The exhibition showcases unique ornamentation of rural Hungarian houses and their significant impact on visual culture through a variety of artistic media and immersive installations. We’re excited to partner with KÉK-Kortárs Építészeti Központ / Contemporary Architecture Centre - to offer deeper insights into Budapest’s built visual culture. KÉK is a leading institution focused on architecture, the built environment, and urban development. 🔴SPEAKER ANNOUNCEMENT🔴 TOMCSANYI is a Budapest-based slow fashion womenswear brand, known for its handmade, on-demand pieces with vibrant digital patterns inspired by designer Dori Tomcsanyi. Initially drawing from everyday life during the socialist era, the collections featured bold, colorful prints influenced by art, architecture, and 1970s design. These striking patterns are balanced by classical tailoring, clean cuts, and functionalist silhouettes. As of 2023, TOMCSANYI delves deeper into Hungarian identity, incorporating national and folkish patterns into modern fashion. We are excited to listen to Dóri Tomcsányi’s deep dive into her research on our local visual identity. 📍The Brand Identity Stage, National Dance Theater 🎟️ Grab your tickets at povbudapest.com/tickets #pov #povbudapest #conference #design #fashion #patterns #identity #experience #illustration #print #easterneurope

As the anticipation builds for POV Budapest, the premier Hungarian design event, we’ve been chatting with the line-up of top industry speakers to give you a sneak peek into what’s in store! Why did the festival’s ‘perspectives’ theme capture their imagination? What fresh and innovative angles are they infusing into their presentations? And what Budapest attractions are on their must-see list? Cat How, Co-founder of global studio How&How, is particularly excited about the festival. Drawing upon her journalism and design criticism background, she’ll be exploring the power of language in shaping communication. Her talk, focused on brand language, takes inspiration from ‘Songlines,’ a fascinating practice used by Australian First Nations communities to encode geographical information and local knowledge in songs, narratives, and art. Keen to discover more about the sparks that ignited How’s talk, her Budapest itinerary, and the latest happenings at How&How? Read the interview → https://lnkd.in/egdRWyE5
