The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the RWTH Aachen Campus (RWTH Campus) from Germany join forces to establish the Hong Kong Industrial Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Centre (FLAIR) at the Hong Kong Science Park to support Hong Kong’s development into an international innovation & technology hub. As the sole founder, HKPC will work together with RWTH Campus, the major collaborator of FLAIR, by bundling their strengths and repertoire of resources in technical expertise, networks, innovation and patents etc. to set up the FLAIR and support its operation.

FLAIR made the debut and successfuly held a technical sharing at the renowned World Artificial Intelligence Conference (#WAIC) 2024! The "𝗙𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗥 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆" technical sharing featured FLAIR experts explaining our award-winning technologies and how they help achieve intelligent, automated, and highly efficient production processes. FLAIR's #FutureFactory exhibition (Booth C1121, Hall H1) showcases the transformative potential of AI in shaping the "Industry of the Future" and represents key stages of a production line: 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲, 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁-𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿, and 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻. 🌟 Which role can Berlin and Hong Kong, respectively, play in bridging the European and Asian markets? On Monday, we had the pleasure of hosting an insightful info and networking session on this topic at GermanHub, organised by WHub and AsiaBerlin. 🚀 Marten Rauschenberg, CEO of AsiaBerlin, gave us a highly engaging pitch on the dynamic start-up ecosystem of Berlin – putting the “#techno” in technology 🎛️🎶 – followed by first-hand insights into the start-up and investment landscape in Hong Kong by Jessica Lam, Group Chief Strategy Officer at WeLab, Andy Tung, Managing Partner at QBN Capital, and Jayne Chan, Head of Startups at Invest Hong Kong. Big shout-out to Karena Belin for initiating this fantastic exchange and seamlessly moderating the evening. On Tuesday, we took the opportunity to show Marten around HKSTP - Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, where we visited the Hong Kong Industrial Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Centre (FLAIR) and heard about their innovative industrial solutions and successful spinoffs such as: 🚀 WISIO: Harnessing the power of predictive AI to drive ESG efforts and reduce waste in the plastics industry, presented by the Jason Sung. 🚀 Green AI Technology Ltd.: Integrating AI technology and automated sorting to improve material recovery rates for a sustainable future, presented by Cola Lam. 🚀 AssemblyWise – Solving the problem of automating assembly sequence planning, presented by Max Wittstamm. A cooperation between the HKPC - Hong Kong Productivity Council and RWTH Aachen University, FLAIR leverages technical expertise, networks, and innovation to drive industry transformation. We also had the opportunity to visit FLAIR’s lab on site, gaining a first-hand look at their cutting-edge industrial solutions. What if we can tackle it with a predictive tool, to fully digitalise and simulate the production process before any resources are wasted? That's where FLAIR's 𝐀𝐈-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 solution comes in. It harnesses the power of AI to identify root causes and prevent waste of materials before the defective products are made. As the process is 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝, inspection costs are also reduced with an 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. The digitalised production process also paves way to adopting further automation tools such as robotic arms and #AGV for product packaging and delivery. At FLAIR, we understand the pain points and viewpoints of the industry are essential, which is why we showcased our tech at the renowned #Chinaplas exhibition earlier together with 𝐃𝐫. Following the success of last year's Greater Bay Area Industry Network Clusters (INC) consultation session with media, HKPC has organised the Hong Kong high-level media INC and luncheon today. The event brought together representatives from Hong Kong media outlets for in-depth discussions with HKPC’s management team. The aim was to explore future development opportunities for Hong Kong and other cities in the GBA, deepen mutual understanding, and strengthen collaboration. 【HKPC shines with impressive gold medal achievements at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva】 Good News! HKPC has achieved remarkable achievements at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, winning one Gold Medal with Congratulations of Jury – the highest accolade in addition to three other Gold Medals. This year, we have strived for excellence and actively participated in the pursuit of gold. As a result, 40% of our award submissions have achieved gold medals or higher honours, while the rest received silver and bronze medals. This strategy has not only raised our R&D standards for engaging in internationally renowned competitions, but also enabled us to achieve better results. For instance, our "InspecSpider" has received the prestigious "Edison Award," known as the "Oscars of Innovation."
