A new study from the University of Queensland has found that older adults who engage in high-intensity interval training (HIIT) can boost their cognitive function, and what’s more, these benefits can last for up to five years. The study, published in the journal Aging and Disease, is one of the first to show that exercise doesn’t merely delay cognitive decline — it can actively improve cognitive performance in healthy older adults.

Synchron's BCI is the 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 BCI to be implanted using the body's natural vascular system. 🪱Their BCI is implanted in the blood vessel on the surface of the brain’s motor cortex, via the jugular vein, through a minimally invasive endovascular procedure. ✅Once implanted, it is designed to detect and wirelessly transmit motor intent out of the brain, intended to restore the capability for severely paralysed people to control personal devices with hands-free point-and-click. 🤔𝙄𝙛 𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙨... 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝙪𝙥 𝙩𝙤? Blackrock Neurotech - Nearly all BCIs implanted in humans have used Blackrock’s technology—specifically the Utah Array. The Utah array is the core tech which received a Breakthrough Designation from the FDA in 2021. Founders/CEO - Florian Solzbacher, Marcus Gerhardt Paradromics Inc. - Their Direct data interface (DDI) is a BCI with both the data rate and the proximity to brain signals for advanced applications. The DDI will enable motor-impaired people to communicate and independently use a computer by translating their neural signals into synthesized speech, text, and cursor control. Founders/CEO - Matt Angle ONWARD Medical - The US FDA granted the ARCEX platform Breakthrough Device Designations for the improvement of upper and lower limb function, bladder control, regulation of blood pressure, and alleviation of spasticity in people with spinal cord injury. Founders/CEO - G. Courtine, Jocelyne Bloch, Dave Marver Neuralink - the chip uses thin, flexible threads equipped with 1,024 electrodes that record the activity of neurons. Surgical robots place threads to the cerebral cortex, responsible for the brain’s high-level processes, to ensure precise placement of electrodes.  Founders/CEO - Elon Musk Precision Neuroscience - Their 'The Layer 7 Cortical Interface', is a scalable BCI. The Microelectrode array comprises 1024 electrodes ranging in diameter from 50 to 380 microns, connected to a customized hardware interface. Founders/CEO - Benjamin Rapoport, Michael Mager INBRAIN Neuroelectronics - Harnessing the potential of Graphene offers unprecedented selectivity and accuracy to effectively treat patients with neural conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, and speech impairment. It requires fewer wires, minimizing invasiveness, and allows integration into ultra-soft flexible substrates. Founders/CEO - Carolina Aguilar, Jose Antonio Garrido Any I've missed? Comment below!

🧠 Neurogenesis (Birth of a Neuron) ... Timelapse video of a stem cell transforming into a neuron. This process occurs in the nervous system during prenatal development. It also occurs within specific brain regions in adults such as the hippocampus (memory, learning, and emotion center). The adult human brain contains ~86 billion neurons with ~100 trillion connections. 📍 References in Comments -- ⭐️➡️ FOLLOW for Health, Science, Technology (Video Credit: Nanolive SA) #neuroscience #health #mentalhealth #psychology #science #biotechnology
