Consul-General Gareth Williams paid a visit to Hactl - Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited’s flagship air cargo facility SuperTerminal 1 and Alibaba Group’s new logistics centre Cainiao Smart GATEWAY to hear about air freight logistics operations at the Hong Kong International Airport, the world’s busiest air cargo hub. Hong Kong continues to be one of Australia’s significant trading partners. In 2023, Australia exported around AU$9.8 billion in goods to Hong Kong, including our much sought after fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and seafood most of which comes to Hong Kong via air cargo. Many of Australia’s exports also fly via Hong Kong to other destinations throughout Asia.

Hactl: “People and planet before profit” at Air Cargo China   In a media interview during Air Cargo China, Hactl Chief Executive Wilson Kwong told STAT Times Editor Reji John that what is good for the planet and people is often also good for business, citing how moves like the introduction of company-wide mobile computing had also delivered environmental dividends. SDG staircase features new theme “Life On Land" Hactl has installed a new set of messages and quizzes surrounding the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of “Life on Land” on the stairwell on the fourth to sixth floors of its North Office Block, to encourage its staff to exercise more, while learning more about the world’s and Hong Kong’s ecosystems, and putting environmental conservation into practice. Giga Safety Day promises cool outlook for staff As part of Hactl’s longstanding commitment to staff wellbeing and safety, its Safety Team recently organised a "Giga Safety Day" to introduce new occupational safety and health equipment for cargo terminal and ramp staff. Items included cooling vests for outdoor working, equipped with integral fans to help prevent heat stroke. Meanwhile new style safety shoes featured enhanced water resistance and reduced weight.   Representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Council demonstrated the vest's features at the event, and highlighted best practice in avoiding heat-related illness when working in high temperatures. Hactl speaks at TIACA conference in Astana   Hactl's Chief Executive Wilson Kwong addressed a distinguished audience of senior airfreight executives at The International Air Cargo Association TIACA - Central Asia Event in Kazakhstan on 20 June. His presentation covered the prevailing global conditions influencing and impacting the global air cargo industry; the balance between capacity and demand; the role of ecommerce and special cargo; growth areas; challenges; and sustainability. He also shared how some of Hactl’s recent innovations and sustainability initiatives help leverage opportunities to grow, while creating value for the community and the environment.   His presentation was followed by a high level debate with other industry leaders.
