#TeamGammon in London - we are thrilled to share that Gammon has been recognised with top honors at the Icon Awards by Balfour Beatty plc, our 50% shareholder, held at the prestigious V&A Museum in London! Kennedy Cheung, our esteemed Director, brought home The Diamond Award, celebrating his many years of dedication to both Gammon and the wider industry. Kennedy has been the driving force behind landmark projects such as the Island West Transfer Station, HATS sewage tunnels, Shatin Central Link, the re-provisioning of WSD’s facilities and most recently, the Central Kowloon Route – Kai Tak West and BEM. He pioneered innovative methods like drill-and-blast tunneling and environmentally friendly rock cavern storage. Ilona Pak, our talented Project Engineer, was honored with a ‘Highly Commended’ in the Rising Star Award. From her very first day at Gammon, Ilona's exceptional skills and relentless drive have shone brightly. She quickly mastered new tasks and her impressive portfolio includes designing stiffened steel box girders for the Artist Square Bridge and developing advanced data-driven design tools. In addition to these individual accolades, our Senior Environmental Engineer, Ann So, along with the Ho Man Tin Package Two Project Team and the HK International Airport APM/BHS Tunnel – Double Wall Retaining System for Deep Excavation Project Team, were finalists in the Building New Futures Award, Zero Harm Award, and Pioneering Engineering Award, respectively. The entire Hong Kong team had the unique opportunity to attend the ceremony, visit various project sites including HS2 Area North, HS2 Old Oak Common, and M25 Junction 10 in the UK. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists! Your achievements are a testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovative spirit that define #TeamGammon. We couldn't be prouder of your accomplishments. Well done! #Gammon #GammonConstruction #BalfourBeatty #IconAwards #IconAwards2024 #Recognition #Achievement #Excellence

  • At Gammon, we’re redefining what’s possible in the construction industry by embracing the principles of circularity. We’re thrilled to share our latest initiative — converting local waste cooking oil into B5 biofuel, significantly cutting greenhouse gas emissions and conserving natural resources. This model not only underscores our commitment to sustainability but also proves that environmental benefits can go hand-in-hand with commercial viability. And we’re expanding these circularity principles to other materials, like residual concrete, further demonstrating the power of sustainable practices. Join us in pioneering a greener, more sustainable future! 🌱💚 #Gammon #GammonConstruction #Circurlarity #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #GreenConstruction #Innovation #Green #Initiatives #B5Biofuel #Environment #Sustainable

  • Sustainability is not just a goal but a continuous journey of innovation and collaboration. This was the guiding principle as our Chief Executive and the Chairman of Business Environment Council, Kevin O’Brien, and Group Sustainability Manager, Eddie Tse, joined thought leaders and experts at ReThink 2024 by ReThink HK, an event dedicated to advancing sustainable development through globally recognised risk and opportunity topics, with a special focus on Hong Kong. Kevin delivered a Keynote Speech at the opening ceremony, where he provided an overview of Hong Kong's current sustainability landscape and discussed the critical issues that all organisations face in the race to net zero. He addressed the challenges businesses encounter as Hong Kong transitions to mandatory disclosure and the complexities involved in measuring and reporting Scope 3 emissions. Furthermore, Kevin delved into the "Business-Policy Nexus for Circularity and Sustainable Living," underscoring the importance of business and policy in tackling sustainability challenges such as waste, nature depletion, and energy transition barriers, with a particular focus on Hong Kong and the wider region. Eddie engaged in two insightful panel discussions. The first, "The Scope 3 Challenge," explored strategies for businesses to effectively measure, report, and reduce Scope 3 emissions, highlighting the crucial need for collaboration with suppliers and customers to achieve meaningful reductions. The second panel, "Embodied Carbon – Partnerships to Decarbonize Hong Kong’s Construction Industry," focused on why embodied carbon remains the #1 unsolved challenge and discussed the role of industry groups, available solutions in Hong Kong, and opportunities for expansion into the Greater Bay Area. The insights and strategies from ReThink 2024 have provided valuable inspiration and thought-provoking ideas for advancing sustainability. Moving forward, we are dedicated to integrating these learnings, fostering collaboration, and driving impactful change to build a resilient, sustainable future for Hong Kong and beyond. #Gammon #GammonConstruction #ReThink #ReThink2024 #Innovation #Insights #Sustainability #Decarbonisation #Circularity #NetZero

Our Singapore team recently came together for the Staff Appreciation Night at the stunning 1-Flowerhill in Sentosa, with the captivating Sentosa Sensoryscape as the backdrop. Themed “Celebration of Life Senses,” the evening was dedicated to recognising the amazing contributions of #TeamGammon and celebrating the sensory joys that enrich our lives. Amidst the stunning surroundings, we honored our colleagues with the Long Service Awards for 15 years of dedicated service. These remarkable individuals are the backbone of our company, and their unwavering commitment has played a pivotal role in our success. The evening also featured the ICON Awards, recognising those who consistently go above and beyond. With a total of seven categories designed to honor excellence, contribution, passion, innovation, and leadership, the Singapore division won four awards! As we say, "music is the universal language of mankind”, a key highlight of the evening was indeed the live band, where some of our talented colleagues took the stage to showcase their musical skills. Their performance brought a sense of unity and joy, leaving a lasting impression on everyone. The night was a perfect blend of celebration, reflection, and gratitude. We shared laughter, stories, and a renewed sense of purpose as we acknowledged the hard work and dedication of our staff. Popcorn in the office? Yes, please! 🍿   We recently hosted a fun-filled Corporate Wellness Day, sponsored by Quality HealthCare Medical Services Limited, bringing health and joy directly to our workplace. #TeamGammon had the opportunity to enjoy free health screenings, ensuring they stay on top of their well-being. But it wasn't all about check-ups – we also had an insightful Health Talk on Pain Management in Chinese Medicine and set up various interactive and informative game booths on topics such as shingles, pneumonia, and COVID-19 oral drugs. These booths provided a chance for team members to unwind, have fun, and win some fantastic prizes. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as everyone engaged in the activities. And let's not forget the popcorn booth🎪, which offered a little cheat that nobody could resist, making the day complete! 😋💯 At Gammon, we are committed to the health and well-being of our team. Through initiatives like these, we aim to raise awareness about important health issues while fostering a supportive community. Encouraging a balanced lifestyle is at the heart of what we do. Cheers to a healthier, happier, and more connected team! #Gammon #GammonConstruction #Wellness #Health #WellnessDay #EmployeeWellbeing #HappyWorkDay #TeamFun #HealthyWorkplace #QHMS #CorporateWellness

As we embark on the 3rd Gammon-HKUST capstone project, Gammon is engaging a team of talented students from the Environmental Management and Technology (EVMT) Programme at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). This year, the students are pioneering a pilot assessment for two Gammon’s transport infrastructure projects, following the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) LEAP approach and the draft sector guidance documents. These projects, along with four selected high-impact materials — rebar, cement, aggregate, and timber — were chosen for the pilot assessment due to their economic significance to our civil and infrastructure business, their proximity to ecologically sensitive areas, and Gammon's strong relationships with the suppliers. To further engage with the project, we invited the team to Gammon to present at our recent ExCo meeting, which was also attended by Prof. Arthur Lau from HKUST and Mr. Derek Wu (Co-advisor of the project) from AXA Climate. This provided an opportunity for the students to share insights and exchange ideas with our top management. The interaction not only enriched our discussions but also underscored our commitment to fostering the development of future industry leaders. We are immensely proud to support these promising students and look forward to our next capstone project for more in-depth assessments in order to create positive impacts on nature as well as our business. #Gammon #GammonConstruction #HKUST #CapstoneProject #AXAClimate #Sustainability #Innovation #Environment #YoungTalents #Talents #Exchange #Pioneering
