From the MB&F HM6 to Hamilton’s recent Dune timepieces to Ulysse Nardin’s Freak S to the Olga Orel ALIEN Smartwatch, sci-fi-inspired watches are far from a novel concept and have grown increasingly popular in recent years. And after spending the better part of the last decade establishing itself in the horological space, British startup Isotope is now tossing its proverbial hat into the sci-fi-inspired horological ring with the release of its all new titanium-cased Compax Chronograph Moonshot Stealth Watch.

The Basics

The Isotope Compax Chronograph Moonshot Stealth Watch is constructed around a grade 5 titanium case that measures 41mm across, 15mm thick, and sports a 49.5mm lug-to-lug. The case sports a futuristic take on chronograph pushers with a milled texture and a fixed tachymeter bezel in kilometers. Alongside the Stealth version of the Compax Chronograph Moonshot watch, Isotope is also producing a Terra Maris variant. Both watches are identical, save for their color way.

The Dial

What really makes this watch so special is its dial — or more specifically, the sub-dials. Sporting a traditional symmetrical tri-compax layout, these sub-dials jettison normal sub-dial hands in favor of what the British brand calls “moon discs.” These discs feature small cutouts that reveal only one portion of the sub-dial and highlight that area, rather than having a sub-dial hand point at it.

Because it blocks the wearer’s view of the rest of the sub-dial, it increases legibility compared to traditional hand-equipped layouts. Adorned in Super Luminova Grade X1, the dial — like the rest of the watch — features a stealthy blacked-out finish that contrasted by mint green hour and minute hands, a red seconds hand, and a mint green perimeter ring.

Swiss-Made Movement

Keeping the whole thing ticking is a Swiss-made Landeron Cal. 73 automatic movement. Beating at 28,800 BPH, this 28-jewel movement features a custom-engraved rotor and a 42-hour power reserve.

Band & Bracelet

Rather than giving customers the option of selecting between a rubber strap or alloy bracelet, Isotope is selling the Compax Chronograph Moonshot Stealth Watch with both a fluoroelastomer strap with a titanium deployant clasp and DLC-coated bracelet made from matching grade 5 titanium.
