a really great organization that i don’t see any posts about here is HEAL palestine. it was founded by steve sosebee, who was a founding president of the PCRF before leaving in late 2023 to refocus his efforts on heal palestine to better meet the needs of palestinians impacted by the genocide. the organization provides palestinians in gaza with food, clean water, shelters, “makeshift classrooms,” and even medical evacuation for some children when it’s possible–their services are pretty wide.

you can donate here if you would like to send a tax-deductible donation to an organization. also, i don’t think any evacuations are possible right now, but if you’re in the united states and you’d like to welcome medically evacuated children in the future, i highly recommend signing up for their newsletter or following them on social media so you can stay updated in case any children evacuated by HEAL come to your area for treatment. welcoming these kids at the airport is a really moving way to provide them with moral support, entirely for free.

Northern Gaza has been starving for 2 months now

Please donate to the Sameer Project and Dahnoun Mutual Aid. Many NGOs and nonprofits have ceased operations in the north due to danger and lack of supplies — these are two Gazawi-led grassroots initiatives that buy food, water, clothes, and baby supplies in bulk to serve the most vulnerable people in their communities in the North at no cost.

A screenshot of the heading of an article on Medium.com, written by user "The Grief Witch". The title of the article is "What is the Ethical Way to Climb Out of Hell?". The article is accompanied by a worms-eye-view photo of several people waving Palestinian flags.ALT

I just wanted to share this article about Palestine’s right to revolt and why it is important that we support it. It also has sources embedded in the text that debunk misinformation about them and Hamas. I implore everyone to read it and spread this information around.

Always remember that Palestine was explicitly granted the right to armed resistance by the United Nations, against the zionist occupation. The article mentions the U.N. enshrining that right for occupied and colonized people, but the U.N. also explicitly named Palestine in the resolution, as well as Namibia and Zimbabwe who were also fighting against apartheid and illegal occupation.

Given recent events (and less recent frankly), it may behoove everyone to read up on the history of the Blue Line.

Some of the Olive trees that currently still grow and bear fruit in occupied Palestine are thousands of years old.

This olive tree is nearly 5000 years old and has witnessed more war and bloodshed than any of us. In the Garden of Gethsemane, on the Mount of Olives, at the edge of Jerusalem, trees still grow that were there when Jesus wept.

The Second Olive Tree, By Mahmoud Darwish (Translated by Marilyn Hacker)

The olive tree does not weep and does not laugh. The olive tree

Is the hillside’s modest lady. Shadow

Covers her single leg, and she will not take her leaves off in front of the storm.

Standing, she is seated, and seated, standing.

She lives as a friendly sister of eternity, neighbor of time

That helps her stock her luminous oil and

Forget the invaders’ names, except the Romans, who

Coexisted with her, and borrowed some of her branches

To weave wreaths. They did not treat her as a prisoner of war

But as a venerable grandmother, before whose calm dignity

Swords shatter. In her reticent silver-green

Color hesitates to say what it thinks, and to look at what is behind

The portrait, for the olive tree is neither green nor silver.

The olive tree is the color of peace, if peace needed

A color. No one says to the olive tree: How beautiful you are!

But: How noble and how splendid! And she,

She who teaches soldiers to lay down their rifles

And re-educates them in tenderness and humility: Go home

And light your lamps with my oil! But

These soldiers, these modern soldiers

Besiege her with bulldozers and uproot her from her lineage

Of earth. They vanquished our grandmother who foundered,

Her branches on the ground, her roots in the sky.

She did not weep or cry out. But one of her grandsons

Who witnessed the execution threw a stone

At a soldier, and he was martyred with her.

After the victorious soldiers

Had gone on their way, we buried him there, in that deep

Pit – the grandmother’s cradle. And that is why we were

Sure that he would become, in a little while, an olive

Tree – a thorny olive tree – and green!

remix of the iconic photograph “the cock (kiss)” by wolfgang tillmans. expressing my disdain for pinkwashing as a nonsensical pretext for colonial violence.

i’m seeing this art from last year pick up some traction and that is delightful to me because i like this piece. i would love if people could circulate a version with a link to my friend mohamed’s campaign.

there is no greater way to honor my work than to help my friend and his family survive.

mohamed’s campaign has lost some traction recently and there is no more essential time to support him. everything is coming together to make it possible for his family to evacuate, but they need to survive ‘till then. all three of his children are at risk of dying from cold and poisonous bug bites. his wife is still in the hospital in and out of a coma. mohamed himself is the most exhausted that a human being can be, with wounds all over his back from the occupation bombing where he was collecting supplies for his family just like they have gotten away with for their entire illegitimate statehood. please send some money to this campaign.
