🌟 Excitement is in the air as the 2024 Paris Olympic Games officially kick off! 🎉🏅   Throwing it back to April, when the Olympic Flame crossed the Rio – Antirrio Bridge on its way to Paris, creating an unforgettable moment for all of us – marking the 20 years since its first ever crossing in August 2004 for the Athens Olympic Games and of course the 20th anniversary of the Bridge itself! We are delighted to announce the donation of the construction model of the Rio-Antirrio Bridge to the University of Patras. The model was unveiled during a special event held on July 2, 2024, at the Conference and Cultural Center of the University and it will now be prominently displayed in its foyer.   This donation commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Rio-Antirrio Bridge, a unique construction & technological achievement that contributed to the sustainable development of the Region of Western Greece. Measuring 2m X 8m and comprising of four sections of identical dimensions, the model meticulously illustrates the construction phases of the bridge at a 1:350 scale. Since 2004, it has been a feature of the Bridge's Exhibition Centre, offering thousands of students and visitors the opportunity to “discover” the secrets of the construction of a modern engineering marvel.   During the event, GEFYRA’s CEO, Mr. Panos Loukas, emphasized the strong ties that unite the Rio – Antirrio Bridge and the University of Patras and in order to honor this enduring relationship, the company decided to donate the model, hoping that it will still serve as a reference, teaching and inspiration point for future engineers. #RioAntirrioBridge #UniversityOfPatras #CulturalCenter #BridgeConstruction

VINCI Highways celebrates successful mobilization for IBTTA’s 1st Global Safety Week! Last week, VINCI Highways actively promoted the first edition of the new safety campaign from IBTTA. We made the campaign directly visible to our drivers on digital panels along our highways, including on the Denver highway - Northwest Parkway LLC - in the USA and the Gefyra, Rio-Antirrio Bridge , Olympia Odos (Athens, Korinthos, Patra, Pyrgos motorway) and Aegean Motorway S.A. in Greece with our partners and Hellastron. To further amplify the impact, we hosted a safety meeting with our operational partners and staff in the USA. And we extended our reach across the mobility services industry by sharing the campaign on the social networks of our subsidiary ViaPlus. In the past two weeks alone, we've had the pleasure of welcoming several distinguished groups to our Exhibition Center. Among our guests were EESTEC LC Patras, the Civil Engineering department of the University of Peloponnese, members of ELLA-DIKA MAS, as well as members of the Technical Chamber of Bavaria. We love sharing the story of this remarkable bridge, which stands as a point of reference and inspiration. Gefyra, Rio-Antirrio Bridge participated in the 12th Regional Growth Conference held in Patras. This year theme was about Sustainability & Innovation with a focus on the Regional Development. Panos Loukas, the CEO of the company, who participated in a panel together with the Deputy Minister of Justice Mr. Bougas, the Mayor of Naupactus Mr. Gizas and the Chairman of Piraeus Bank Mr. Handjinicolaou pointed out that 20 years after its opening, the Rio – Antirrio Bridge is an excellent example of an infrastructure project marked by technical excellence, leaving a strong positive imprint on the economic and social development of the Region, ensuring the continuous connection of the Strait and setting high standards in its operation and maintenance, as member of VINCI Highways network. Since its opening, the Bridge has contributed greatly to the connection of the western part of Greece and to the interconnection of Greece with the European area. Improving accessibility and increasing mobility has significant positive effects on employment, labor mobility, logistics & supply chain, as well as on attracting investments. The contribution to tourism development is also important, since, thanks to the modern motorway network connected by the Bridge, visitors can reach the region safely in a very short time.    He concluded by saying that at VINCI our conviction is that the projects we implement and the bridges we build are not only made of concrete and steel. They are structures made by people that contribute to improving the daily lives of citizens by promoting the sustainable development of local communities and the whole region.

The Rio Antirrio Bridge participates again this year in VINCI Concessions' "Health & Safety Week ", which takes place from 27 to 31 May and has the motto "Spot & Stop". Throughout the week, the company's employees have had the opportunity to attend various activities and workshops such as interactive games and workshops for the identification and analysis of risks inspired by the concept “Spot & Stop” and participate in a seminar with the collaboration of Panos Mylonas Road Safety Institute focused on electric vehicles and handling incidents with such vehicles. On the occasion of Europe Day, the Rio - Antirrio Bridge was illuminated on the evening of May 8th in the colors of the European Union, to remind citizens to vote in the European Elections of 9 June.   As part of this year's Europe Day celebrations, iconic architectural landmarks were lit up on the evening of 8-9 May in all EU countries, in an initiative by the European Parliament, with a central message: "One month to the European elections - 9 June 2024".   Greece was represented by the Rio-Antirrio Bridge, as one of the country's most emblematic landmarks, which this year celebrates 20 years of operation and reminds us of Greece that is progressing, creating and building bridges for the Europe and for the future.      #EuropeanParliement #EuropeDay #elections #useyourvote #RioAntirrioBridge
