This week, the #Biomethaverse EU project partners are in Thessaloniki, Greece, to discuss innovative biomethane production pathways. Our Greek partner Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) implements an innovative method that converts CO2 from biogas into biomethane, through its reaction with renewable hydrogen in a catalytic reactor. Thank you to CERTH for hosting us and for the insightful tour of the Biogas Lagada S.A. plant in Kolchiko. 📌 This facility processes 70,000 tonnes of livestock residues and agro-industrial waste each year, transforming it into 4.2 million m³ of biogas. The biogas undergoes dehydration and desulphurisation fueling a cogeneration engine that supply 998 kW of electricity to the grid and 1,064 kW/hr of thermal energy in the form of hot water for internal operations. 🌱 Plus, the leftover digestate is as an excellent organic soil improver, used across 2,000 hectares of agricultural land. 💡 This is just one of five demo plants in the Biomethaverse project.
