Volta Region
Volta Region (or Volta) bi one of Ghana ein sixteen administrative regions, with Ho as ein designate capital. Edey de west of Republic of Togo den to de east of Lake Volta. Demographics
[edit | edit source]De native den largest ethnic group for de Volta Region (Togoland / British Togoland) bi de Ewe people (68.5% of de population). Dem dey consist of several sub groups such as de Anlo Ewe, Tongu Ewe, Wedome Ewe, Ave Ewe den Avenor Ewe. Other ethnicities dey include de Guan people (forming 9.2% of the population), de Akan people (8.5%), den de Gurma people (6.5% of the population).

Administrative divisions
[edit | edit source]Before de regional demarcation insyd December 2018, de region gey MMDA's (wey edey make up of 0 Metropolitan, 5 Municipal den 20 District Assemblies) plus all de administrative changes for de December 2012. After de census, dem carve Oti Region out of it, wey reduce de size for de region den de number for de administrative municipals den districts to 18.

Under dis administration system, dem divide de region into 18 MMDA's (made up of 0 Metropolitan, 6 Municipal den 12 Ordinary Assemblies). Each District, Municipal or Metropolitan Assembly, bi administer by a Chief Executive, wey edey rep de central government buh deriving authority from an Assembly wey ebi presiding member dem elect from among de members demmaselves wey head those institutions. Togoland Congress
[edit | edit source]De Togoland Congress (TCP) bi a political party wey dem form am insyd 1951 so say dem go campaign for de unification of de Ewe people insyd de British Togoland den French Togoland as a separate Ewe state. Dem defeat de party insyd de May 1956 UN plebiscite insyd British Togoland, wey result in de unification of British Trans-Volta Togoland plus Gold Coast, wey later become independent as Ghana.
On 9 May 1956, dem conduct a vote go decide de future disposition for de British Togoland den French Togoland. De native den dominant ethnic group, de Ewe people, dem divide am between de two Togos. British Togoland inhabitants vote in favor give state union plus de Gold Coast, den de Togo Ewe state bi incorporated plus Gold Coast.
Dem bi vocal opposition for de incorporation of Togoland into modern Ghana, from de Ewe people wey vote (42%) against British Togoland, as de Ewe dem wan de unification of de Ewe people insyd British Togoland den French Togoland as a separate Ewe state (modern Togo).
Recently, a campaign for de cessation for some part of de Volta Region from Ghana wey dem call demmaself "Western Togoland" wey dem dey lead by a group calling demmaself Homeland Study Group Foundation. De group lead by Charles Kormi Kudzodzi.
