Johnson work on plenty big films for Ghana, always dey collaborate with de popular director Shirley Frimpong-Manso. Him also work on plenty TV commercials and documentaries. he sana be person wey everybody love for acting community, plus dem sometime dey call am Ghana's best cinematographer.

Dem know am well as 'Bob J', Johnson go school for National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI). Apart from making films for Ghana movie industry, him also work for camera department for international productions for America and UK.

Na he be de former President give de Cinematographers Guild of Ghana (CGG).

Na Johnson be experienced professional motorbiker. However, as na edey train soldiers make dem ride motorbikes for Aburi, Johnson die for 12 December 2010.

After him die, Shirley Frimpong-Manso, wey direct five of him films, talk say 'Bob J' leave lasting mark for Ghana film industry. She also talk say: "Bob be person wey dey pay attention to details, professional, creative, strong person wey you fit rely on, and above all, big brother. All those wey work with am know dis. Him be person wey full of life and great spirit, both for work and outside work. E no go be de same without am."

De respect wey people get for Johnson for film industry, both actors and those wey work behind de scenes, be so much say some film production companies stop work purposely make dem attend him funeral. Some actors even leave de set wey dem dey work go attend de funeral, even though dem no stop filming.

Posthumous awards

For de maiden Ghana Movie Awards, dem award Johnson posthumously as de Best Cinematography Award for ein 2009 film A Sting in a Tale. Ein film Check Mate sana receive posthumous nomination for Best Cinematography for de Ghana Movie Awards. Plus, ein film The Good Old Days: The Love of AA get nomination for Best Cinematography for Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) after he die.

For 2012, de Ghana Academy of Film and Television Arts (GAFTA) dem start de Robert Johnson Silhouette Award for Best Cinematography for National Film and Television Institute Students Film Festival. Dem give out de award twice, for 2012 and 2014.
