Ghana hold general elections on 7 December 2020. Incumbent Presido Nana Akufo-Addo of de New Patriotic Party (NPP) dem re-elect insyd de first round after securing majority for votes.[1] Former Presido John Dramani Mahama come announce that he go contest de results.[2] At de Supreme Court, petition wey dey challenge de result dem file on 30 December, den unanimously dismissed on 4 March 2021 for lack of merit.

De NPP lost ein majority insyd de parliament, winning de same number of seats as dema opposition NDC, wey dey result insyd hung parliament plus single independent (Andrew Asiamah Amoako) insyd de position of kingmaker.[3][4]

Electoral system

Dem dey elect de President of Ghana wey dem dey use two-round system, whilst dem dey elect de 275 members of Parliament insyd single-member constituencies wey dem dey use first-past-de-post voting.[5][6]

Eligible voters for be Ghanaian citizens wey be at least 18 years old, although those dem declare insane be disenfranchised. Parliamentary candidates for be Ghanaian citizens at least 21 years old, den either be resident for dema constituency insyd anaa dem live for der for at least five of de ten years prior to de election.[7]
