lol

why just you say lol

This is a nice game for a Demo, i enjoyed everything, maybe adding a Boss would have been nice, but i can't complain.

I made a video if someone is interested. You can also subscribe too see more of these videos

I love you

ok

Should another demo be in-development, Hopefully you guys could showcase this on a future SAGE (Sonic Amateur Games Expo) or somethin', This game would fit right in there!

good game- please add the functionality to control camera with mouse. Other than that great game

This is really great! I love the animations and the vibe.

Minor issues:

- if you get on that tall platform/area with the christmas tree and the sign* that you get to on a chain of bounce platforms, there is... no actual way to get down? You can almost see first platform when you angle the camera maximally up... but then camera gets stuck in the wall and you have no way of jumping down. And this platform has a checkpoint, so when you inevitably fall, you just get transported back to the platform.

* - the one sign that tells you to check said platform after collecting all fruits for a pellet chain, and informs you about inventory in pause screen

- I wish you could control the camera with a mouse, and not just with arrow keys.

yes i like this game tooo

yes i like this game more than you though

Yeayyyy

Pac-Man World 4 has finally entered our reality! Keep up the good work, as this game is pretty dope so far!

hell yes

Nice

wow! This is such a great love letter to the Pac-Man World games! Absolutely loved it and can't wait for something bigger to come out of this.

this should have been made a long time ago :)

oka:)

As a proof of concept, this is a pretty great demo. Of course I would say it needs some camera tweaking (mouse camera controls would be nice). I did have some issue with running it so having some hardware requirements would help future players. I can't wait to see more in the future since this has really peaked my interest.

Wow, I'm utterly blown away by this demo! I absolutely adored the original Pac-Man World waaay back on the original PlayStation. This game perfectly emulates the feel and style of that game, whilst being very modern. This could easily be the demo for a real Pac-Man World 4! The only real gripes I have are the somewhat strange camera (it seems no matter what options I chose, it remains inverted?) and the lack of the pellet attack. But other than that, this is a very solid, very polished demo! Amazing!

Very fun demo

you too

Okay, this is awesome but I kinda found the camera not "active" enough for such a closed-in level; like it doesn't really stay behind Pac-Man enough, so the player has to do a lot of the leg work. I think it would be cool if the R2/L2 triggers were able to control the X-axis as well.

Great demo.

My partner and I played this game because of the name alone. Not really into Pac-man but you got a great idea here and the level is fun. Reminds us of the platforms from 64 era. Wish it had controller support and if did, did not figure it out. Playing with the keyboard and mouse isn't ideal, but got the job done. Looking forward if this becomes something bigger in the future.

Only one puzzle we didn't figure out, but it wasn't needed to collect the fruits. Great job overall!

you too :)

I really like this demo. I love Pac-Man World 2 and this game feels like the real Pac-Man World 3.

This is a great demo and what feels like playing another Pac-Man World game since the last one we got was...….during the age of beat em up platformer games.

I really love the was how this game is going to look with its style and the way the level was made and hope to see more.

So far the nit picks i have is the camera is a little funny to control and when you cancel the roll dash he doesn't do the little kick he did but thats all.

Hope to see this be a successful project to show BANDAI that people still like the Pac-Man World series.

This is a great demo ):

Great demo. Love Pac-Man and this game looks very fun.

Hiii, I've made a video about the game and wanted to share some feedback about it, hopefully it is useful to you ^^

-The concept of the game has a lot of potential to be explored on bigger worlds.

-The gameplay mechanics are pretty good and could be expanded by adding some extra ones related to the platforming on more levels.

-The camera needs a BIG REWORK, it's pretty hard to use a lot of the times for some reason.

-The game visually is well headed but adding some details on the enviroment/level design would really make the difference.

Hopefully this is useful to you :D, also if you could subscribe that would help me a lot :)

Regards

The Mac build doesn't work at the moment. I get the error "

You do not have permission to open the application “Pac-Man Palace Festive Folleys Demo.app”."

This is not a macOS Gatekeeper issue since I can't force the app to open in Security and Privacy settings.

is it not working still? i got it to work but i am playing on itch.io game hub.

Please check the new macOS build as we just updated it to support the newer macOS versions and Apple silicon.

I was geniunely impressed when I played this and it had a big ass smirk on my face. Thank you to the devs for making this, it captured the spirit of the first two Pac-Man World games amazingly. My only real complaints are about the control and the inventory system. The control for Pac-Man is great, but his butt bounce here feels a fair bit delayed. I didn't use it as much besides for smashing boxes because it just didn't feel as nice to use. And, the rev roll is the same way too. It just felt kind of useless to use aswell because the level design didn't have helivators or any slopes to get up. I'd also probably tweak Pac's movement speed on the ground to be a bit faster. Also, on the HUD, it should display the amount of a collectable in each world instead of making you check an inventory system.

Besides my nitpicks, this game lived up to my expectations and I enjoyed it greatly. I can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeves!

Edit: Also, I'm curious, will you guys will implement mazes through Galaxian pick ups like the other World games? I'd think it'd be great to keep the mazes that Pac is known for.

This is super impressive, and way more than I would ever thought of seeing when thinking of what a Pac-Man World fan project could look like. The attention to detail is quite admirable, as you guys manage to not only include all the moves from Pac-Man World 2, but also make it feel pretty close to how PMW2 did on PC, right down to the fluid HUD design and having the more trivial moves like the flip kick.

The visuals and set pieces in this level are lovely. The animations are nice and cartoonish, probly even moreso than in any game of the actual trilogy.

That said, while this game does a great job imitating PMW2 mechanics, PMW2 also has its missteps. And I hope Palace does better than to delve into its pitfalls. Particularly, there should still be a Pac-Man feel. Collecting dots here already doesn't amount to anything, but it seems like you don't even get points. Not even by eating ghosts, which are the only enemy in this demo.

I'm also generally hoping the levels get more interesting in their designs, not just the visuals. This level here is a nice way to get acquainted with the game feel, but I'd like to see how things pick up from here.

All things considered, this is a very promising start! There's a lot of cool things to take away from this, and I hope the eventual finished project ends up being the Pac-Man World 4 PMW fans have been waiting for.

Congratulations nice game...

Just finished the demo, very short but I had a good time! Here are my extended thoughts for your review and consideration:

PROS

- Loved the visuals, the rendering and animations especially, perfect, wouldnt change a thing!

- The UI brought me RIGHT BACK to the original trilogy.

- Controls were very nice! They were responsive and fluid and I never felt like I was misjudging my movement.

- Good level of challenge and exploration for finding the collectables.

- It was good enough that I was compelled to 100% complete it!

CONS

- Movement is slow, the level design compensates for it somewhat but even in the time it took me to 100% the demo I found myself asking things to hurry up. I'd highlight this as my main issue with the demo.

- Camera is a little bit awkward, I think it's left up to the user too much to decide on the direction of it, maybe have a camera that follows, tracks, and turns rather than just follows? For example, like in mario 64. when you run to the right the camera turns to face you instead of just moving without rotation, it's confusing to get your head around at first but implementation isn't too hard in Unity if you just study examples like I gave you, especially with the skiollset you clearly have. Also, I frequently found myself pressing up to turn the camera up when I wanted it to go the opposite direction, which is somewhat of an accessibility issue for people who prefer inversion of the camera.

- I doubt this will be an issue in the final release, but I didn't have to use the rev roll at all in the demo outside of the intro (which was very nice btw), it would have only lead me to get hurt or lost.

WHAT I'D LIKE TO SEE NEXT

- A faster way to move that isn't something as chaotic as the rev roll, be it increasing the move speed or just adding run functionality. I understand this is a departure from the original trilogy, but I think evolving the formula organically would only do good, though you do have to be careful not to stray too far.

- Individual X and Y axis invert options for the camera (unless I just missed them, in which case my apologies)

CONCLUSION

Overall, a very short but good demo! It shows a lot of promise and is made by clearly very competent developers, it felt good to play but is just missing a few key things to make it a real great. I was surprised to see how well you captured the rendering of the original games but with a fresh, modern take.

7.5/10

Dev speaking here.

There are some settings you can control about the camera in Pause > Options > Controls.

Thanks for the review, we really appreciate it!
