Malicious-URL

# Malicious URL Detector

This application detects malicious URLs, classifying them into benign, defacement, phishing, or malware categories. It leverages a machine learning model to analyze URLs and produce predictions.

## Installation

  1. Clone the repository:

    git clone https://github.com/maskedwolf4/Malicious-URL.git
  2. Create a virtual environment (recommended):

    python -venv venv
    source venv/bin/activate # (Linux/macOS)
    venv\Scripts\activate.bat # (Windows)
  3. Install dependencies:

    pip install -r requirements.txt

## Usage

Enter or provide a list of URLs to analyze.

The application will process the URLs and output their predicted categories (benign, defacement, phishing, or malware).

## Model Details

  • Model type: XGBoost
  • Performance metrics: Accuracy = 0.962

## Disclaimer

  • Limitations: Acknowledge that the model may not be perfect and might produce false positives or negatives.
  • Security reminder: Emphasize that users should not click on suspicious URLs even if the model predicts them as benign.
  • Responsible usage: Encourage users to report any detected malicious URLs to appropriate authorities.
