When you merge a ticket in the GUI, it gives the option of what data to save, which is logical.
On split, it does not keep any data by default. We find that on most, if not all, this data is important to the split ticket as well as the original.
Could there be a flag or option on split (via the API too) that allows you to copy the custom field data over to the new ticket?
