janejuenyang/README.md

hello!

i'm jane, an engineer without borders and jane-of-all-trades.

professionally, i've worked in humanitarian crisis response, energy & infrastructure investments, transformative agriculture, community development financing, and responsible tech designed to help teams do their best work. i've been a writer, researcher, analyst, strategist, and team leader. i'm currently an impact fellow working to make data deliver for improving human services.

personally, i'm an advocate for immigrant justice, an inclusive economy, housing as a human right, and uplifting future leaders. i do my darndest to be a net positive force in society and generally believe we all β€” including in the tech data world β€” need to spend more time actively talking about ethics.

most of my work is behind the scenes, but here are some public examples:

πŸ—³οΈ election result analysis πŸ’¨ carbon footprinting
i supported a successful state representative campaign in illinois with data tech work. after the primary, i had a little fun in R mapping the results i established the climate action work at a small tech company, conducting its first carbon footprinting using a good ol' fashioned spreadsheet and offsetting its cumulative history
🌍 data application πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ« raising data literacy
off-the-shelf business intelligence tools can be handy but are limited. when i need more flexibility and functionality, i turn to shiny to make stuff like this interactive expansion analysis tool i've developed and delivered many trainings designed to help professionals in other disciplines do more with data. those trainings have ranged from fundamental principles of impact evaluation (proprietary) to conducting a/b tests

have a joyful day!
