Happy to support this, the different licenses confuse me though. |

I'm confused, what is or is not included in the Trial Period? |

-
I don't like the fact that it will say trial period on my self hosted instance. |

I did buy license but I don't like this 'licensed' label in left down corner - can we have an option to hide it for paid users? |

Do previous supporters get a complementary license? |

A license can be transferred to another server if necessary, for example, when moving the service ? |
Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
-
Will it be possible to move the license or re apply it when a server is rebuilt or fails ? (Because I tinker a lot and my instances come and go !) |

Will these funds only be going to the core developers or are there plans to compensate open source contributions from outsiders in some way? Perhaps a bounty program? |

Will it ve possible in the future to allow white labelling for license holders? also where can we find the EULA for this license if it has one? |

I have to agree that the term license has been chosen very unwisely as the license that applies should be GNU AGPL v3 License - Community / Supporter would have been a much more applicable choice of terms for the support gesture |

In the name of transparency, I would encourage you to set the price to $100 and $25. |

I'm not so happy about the license model which has just been introduced after I'm using Immich for about 6 weeks. Frankly, 99.99$ for a server license, even it's a lifetime license, is a bit too much from my point of view and my use-case. Two users at the moment (does the admin count as a user?) and maybe adding my parents soon. I'm very happy to support this awesome project, but not with 100 bucks! Per user license would be approx. 50$ but as soon as I'm adding my parents, and maybe someone on top (so 5 users in total) I could have bought the server license. Is there a trade-in feature, so that you can switch from e.g. a two user license to a server license and just pay for the difference? |

The idea is good, but it needs to be explained well to be perceived well. Currently, it's not clear enough that the licensing is completely optional and that you can continue using the free version forever (and people read headlines). I also have an issue with the pricing, and at least in my case, the license cost is way too high. Here's how I would address that: different licensing tiers are fine, but let people optionally choose a different payment amount (decided by the user). I would see the $100 and $25 prices only as suggestions. Just because this pricing makes sense in the US, it does not for most places around the world. I still love and support the project and look forward to its great future! |

There are so many things wrong with this approach!.. |

Maybe they could actually make the license mean something, for example buying yourself into an agreement with futo that legally binds them to the promise of keeping the software open source/free for a certain time period (a couple years from purchase), this would make sure their meaningless promises actually start to matter. Not sure how these kinds of things work when taking in consideration different country's and laws but im sure this would not actually be the hard part. Really curious what your/others take on this is and as always hope you have a great day! |

This is not how open source software should work. Sad to see Immich go this route. RIP. Only a matter of time now... |

Also, a "License" is something else. The license is AGPL-3.0, with paying you don't get a license. This is just wrong. |

Dark patterns, unremovable "you're using a trial version" UI elements now, I'm certain popups will come later, we all know how this works. Sad to see Immich become enshittified, and so quickly too. |

Kind of a crazy amount of people complaining in here. I have no problem paying for license, fact is if there is 0 money going into something ever it ends up dying and turning to crap. |

The whining in here is unbelievable. Yes, the term "license" is an unfortunate choice, and there's a little "unlicencend" message in the sidebar, but that's about it, right? I mean, does it affect the functionality of the software? No. Does it trigger the OCD of some here? Apparently, yes, but that's their problem, right? At the end of the day you have three options:

Hi, I just wanted to say - ever since I started using this project, I wanted to donate somewhere, but I never saw the option anywhere. Now that there is one, i'm somewhat conflicted. On one hand, I want to support you guys. On the other hand, I believe lifetime licenses are unsustainable from a business perspective. The core contributors/full time engineers need a salary which is a recurring outcome, yet the lifetime license is a one-time per user income. Cheers 🍺 |

The choice of term "Licensing" for basically a crowdfunding is just bad and misleading IMO. |

Licensing announcement - Purchase a license to support Immich!
Important
Please read the updated plan to change the wording here #11313
Hello everybody,
Firstly, on behalf of the Immich team, I'd like to thank everybody for your continuous support of Immich since the very first day! Your contributions, encouragement, and community engagement have helped bring Immich to its current state. The team and I are forever grateful for that.
Since our last announcement of the core team joining FUTO to work on Immich full-time, one of the goals of our new position is to foster a healthy relationship between the developers and the users. We believe that this enables us to create great software, establish transparent policies and build trust.
We want to build a great software application that brings value to you and your loved ones' lives. We are not using you as a product, i.e., selling or tracking your data. We are not putting annoying ads into our software. We respect your privacy. We want to be compensated for the hard work we put in to build Immich.
With those notes, we have enabled a way for you to financially support the continued development of Immich, ensuring the software can move forward and will be maintained, by offering a lifetime license of the software. We think if you like and use software, you should pay for it, but we're never going to force anyone to pay or try to limit Immich for those who don't.
There are two types of license that you can choose to purchase: Server License and Individual License.
Server License
This is a lifetime license costing $99.99. The license is applied to the whole server. You and all users that use your server are licensed.
Individual License
This is a lifetime license costing $24.99. The license is applied to a single user, and can be used on any server they choose to connect to.
You can purchase the license on our page - https://buy.immich.app.
Starting with release
v1.109.0
you can purchase and enter your purchased license key directly in the app.Thank you
Thank you again for your support, this will help create a strong foundation and stability for the Immich team to continue developing and maintaining the project that you love to use.
Cheers! 🎉
Immich team
