it is not very commonly used but some encode the german umlaute (öäü, ÄÖÜ) not as a single character but with the base latter and U 0308 Combining Diaeresis[2] (like äöü, ÄÖÜ (lookes the same then (öäü, ÄÖÜ) but it is not).
Unfortunately they are not spoken correctly by espeak-ng (at least the version 1.51 ive tested), i guess a simple replacement of that two-characters with there more common single character-encoding would fix that.
