This PR includes information from the FBTEE project which has digitized the archives of the 18th-century Swiss publishing house, the Société Typographique de Neuchâtel (STN). Their database (EULA here: it allows non-commercial usage) includes information on books published by the STN, along with their genres, authors, buyers, and buyers' professions & locations; I've imported all that into corpora-style JSON, using this Makefile, in the hope of re-using this data in a game I'm working on. In the meantime, enjoy/use it if you can. Maybe it's too big for the core, I don't know. Feel free to trim it or whatever. Thanks to Darius for indicating interest in this when I waffled about a 10-year-old unfinished interactive fiction project that I'd always dreamed of resurrecting, and thanks to the amazing labor of historians Robert Darnton and the FBTEE project who put this into SQL.

The full dataset is probably too specialized (and large) for corpora but I felt it was worth submitting if only because of the rich detail in some of these lists. I'll leave the PR up but welcome suggestions how to trim it down (I have all this stuff on a separate branch in my fork)

This is awesome. As a fan of corpora, I'm glad to see this submission. Thanks for doing this!

Thanks! It needs more work (I'm cleaning it bit by bit), and it may well be that it's out of scope for corpora for various reasons (I can think of quite a few). But I trust @dariusk to make that call, or to postpone the call until it can be made; and if it doesn't make the cut then perhaps it will lead to something else. In the meantime it's gratifying that you like it @Jerimee.

I've come to realize there are gazillions of digital humanities datasets like this lying around, ripe for the picking. I kinda love the idea of building a game (or bot) inside someone's historical dataset. Obviously I'm not the first, but the idea intrigues me still. Novelists do it all the time...
