I found that if an in-text formula contains a (escaped) dollar sign, it incorrectly uses that as a delimiter. AFAIK this should be allowed.
Expected
$\sum_{\$4}$

Actual
$\sum_{\$4}$
=><p>$sum_{\(4}^2\)</p>
As you can see it appears to be converting the inner
$4
