I found that if an in-text formula contains a (escaped) dollar sign, it incorrectly uses that as a delimiter. AFAIK this should be allowed.
Expected
$\sum_{\$4}$=><p>\(sum_{\$4}^2\)</p>Actual
$\sum_{\$4}$=><p>$sum_{\(4}^2\)</p>As you can see it appears to be converting the inner
$4as the beginning of the MathJax expression.Here's what Pandoc evaluates to:
