Christine O'Connell asks:

Beyond the scope of this paper, but have you considered changing the structure of the package such that it can be hosted on CRAN? Perhaps akin to how the raster package relies heavily on getData for e.g., WorldClim data to be downloaded. A wrench in the works to ask, I know!

I respond

I have! And it will become necessary at some point for sure, as (hopefully) the database grows. But that's a task for another day...opening an issue with your note, as the getData comparison is a good one--thanks.

Anonymous:

How about a package hosted on CRAN that includes a function to download the latest version of the data from githut?
