In #2186 we remove the need for the pdfpng executable for latex_image generation, using pyMuPDF instead. The only other place (I think) that uses the pdfpng executable is in epub. This could also be removed in favor of pyMuPDF, although perhaps some of the settings would need to be adjusted.
