How to use OpenAI API and PHP and cURL?

// plain

OpenAI API can be used with PHP and cURL to access the OpenAI API. The following example code shows how to use cURL to make a request to the OpenAI API:

$curl = curl_init();

curl_setopt_array($curl, array(
  CURLOPT_URL => "https://api.openai.com/v1/engines/davinci/completions",
  CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER => true,
  CURLOPT_ENCODING => "",
  CURLOPT_MAXREDIRS => 10,
  CURLOPT_TIMEOUT => 30,
  CURLOPT_HTTP_VERSION => CURL_HTTP_VERSION_1_1,
  CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST => "POST",
  CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS => "{\n  \"prompt\": \"The quick brown fox\",\n  \"max_tokens\": 50\n}",
  CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER => array(
    "Authorization: Bearer <YOUR_API_KEY>",
    "Content-Type: application/json"
  ),
));

$response = curl_exec($curl);
$err = curl_error($curl);

curl_close($curl);

if ($err) {
  echo "cURL Error #:" . $err;
} else {
  echo $response;
}

The output of the example code will be a JSON response from the OpenAI API.
