As the title indicates, it would be great(aesthetically) to have maximized windows to the gap constraints.
A clear and concise description of what you want to happen
It should be on a toggle button for those that do not care about gap consistency.
What this feature should do is that if you hit maximize on any application it should only maximize to the outer gap size specified in the gap settings.
A clear and concise description of any alternative solutions or features you've considered.

This is how it works for single windows in a screen when Maximize Sole Window is unchecked.
In a tiling screen, I tested maximizing firefox (F11) and alt enter with my wezterm terminal and both took up the whole screen. It should probably behave the same as an only window.
EDIT: If I maximize Firefox as a sole window it also takes up the whole screen including covering the panel. Wezterm also behaves the same way covering the whole screen.
