  • Mansa Memorial launches Knowledge Sharing (Nursing & Midwifery) programme with York University Starting on September 19, Mansa Memorial Hospital will launch a globally-networked learning program in partnership with York University, a public research university in Ontario, Canada. York University faculty will work with Ghanaian medical professionals to offer the course to Ghanaian nurses and midwives, using case study formats to deliver an urgent, practical and a culturally-sensitive curriculum.  The programme will focus on several topics including health issues experienced by childbearing families, eclampsia, genetic screening, termination of pregnancy, infants in distress, maternal hypertension, and more. As part of our mission, the Mansa Memorial Centre for Nursing & Midwifery is working to create knowledge platforms that encourage comprehensive theory and evidence-informed care for patients. This opportunity is extended to nurses and midwives in nearby hospitals (both government and private), and the goal is to expand the learners' perspective and also share local experiences with colleagues in Canada and beyond. We recognize the work of Dr. Eric Obeng Edmonds and Robert Quansah for leading this effort. Mansa Memorial is a private nonprofit hospital committed to continued professional development as a way to provide quality and effective healthcare in the communities we serve.

  • Dr. Agnes Oppong joins Mansa Memorial Hospital Dr. Agnes Oppong has joined Mansa Memorial Hospital as a resident optometrist.  Having served in the Ghana Health Service/Regional Hospital system, including Effiduase Government Hospital, Bekwai Municipal Hospital, Ejura Government Hospital and the Kumasi South (Regional) Hospital, Dr. Oppong joins a team driven by a single commitment to providing quality care for the patients we are privileged to serve.  In her own words, “I am passionate about issues that affect eye health, public health and giving back to the less privileged and this passion drives me to acquire more knowledge and skills so I can best serve and positively impact the lives of many.” Together, we look forward to many years of preserving and restoring the gift of sight. We Care!

  • August 23 & 30: Cervical Cancer Screening and Prevention Josephine Tenkorang Mensah and Susan Agyeiwaa from Mansa Memorial Hospital are completing the Module 2 Training at the Cervical Cancer Prevention and Training Centre (CCPTC) of the Battor Catholic Hospital. The objective is to develop additional competency  with hands-on knowledge of cervical cancer treatment and prevention, focusing on screening methods and the diagnosis and treatment options available for pre-cancer lesions.  According to the World Health Organization, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer that kills about 3,000 women annually in Ghana.Though the disease is largely preventable, a lot depends on early detection, sustained screening and treatment of precancer.   Josephine and Susan will lead the next screening event at Mansa Memorial Hospital on Friday 23rd & Friday 30th August 2024 from 8am to 2pm. Making a Difference in Local Communities: Hypertension and Diabetes Prevention   Our gratitude to Dr. Tim Pappoe for his dedication to our work at Mansa Memorial Hospital. Together with the Outreach Team, we had the chance to provide preventive screening and education on hypertension and diabetes in Akyawkrom, Ejisu. The recommendations on screening ideology and the urgency of aggressively educating the people on their health were highly appreciated.   For the months of August and September, we will continue to reach surrounding communities including Adadientem, Besease, Domeabra, Apromase, and Hwereso. Our hope is to continue using health outreach programs to improve overall physical health, remove stigma, and increase access to healthcare.   We Care!

  • As part of our research partnerships and knowledge-sharing initiative, Mansa Memorial Hospital hosted students from the University of Michigan on a collaborative project dedicated to reducing newborn deaths. The project has a specific focus on addressing hypothermia-related fatalities.  In line with the organization's mission, the students have developed a low-cost solution that includes a bassinet designed to regulate infants' temperature, heating mattresses, and a kangaroo carrier. As a healthcare facility serving under-resourced communities in Ghana, we continue to challenge ourselves through continuous learning and collaborations.  We Care!
