Ghana's Ministry of National Security through the National Fusion Centre presented a citation to CRS Ghana in recognition of the Country Program’s contribution to the revision of the National Framework on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism. The framework was devised as a strategic blueprint to combat the spread of Violent Extremism and Terrorism (VET) within Ghana and the broader West African region. The Prevention of Violent Extremism through Social Accountability (PoVESTA) project, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ghana; and the Sahel Peace Initiative, funded by CRS are significant projects that collaborate with communities, religious leaders, youth and national agencies to build awareness and resilience. #PVE #violentextremism #conflictmanagement #Terrorism #Sahel

H.E. Liesje Schreinemacher visited the state- of- the- art container terminal of MPS Terminal, to learn about its operations and gain insight into the importance of financially supporting larger infrastructure projects through partners such as FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank Invest International and the IFC - International Finance Corporation .

Earlier today, H.E. Liesje Schreinemacher begun Day 2 of her visit with a tour of the Adenta Community Garden, in the premises of the Frafraha Community Senior High School, Adenta. At the event, she also opened the mini fruits & vegetables fair and had interactions with partners of the NL COMBI Approach. The Adenta Community Garden was opened in March 2024 with funding by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ghana with Holland Greentech Ghana establishing a demo plot to promote horticulture through Dutch🇳🇱expertise while equipping residents of the Adenta community and its environs with valuable skills in vegetable cultivation and entrepreneurship. The 1-day Mini Fruits🍇and Vegetables🥦 fair is organised by the #HorticultureBusinessPlatform in collaboration with its partners, and aims to bring together local producers and allow them access to a greater range of wholesalers and retailers. The Dutch Combination Approach, is a policy is designed to foster trade & investment while strengthening economic ties by linking Dutch businesses and expertise to development activities in areas of mutual interest for both Netherlands🇳🇱 and Ghana🇬🇭 through collaborative efforts. These involve the implementation of new financing and business models, promoting private sector development, and encouraging significant involvement from Dutch and Ghanaian businesses, knowledge institutions, and NGOs particularly in the sectors of Horticulture🌱 and Cocoa. #NLGHGrowingTogether #HorticultureDevelopment

Agriculture plays a key role in Ghana's #economy. This is one of the reasons why the first stop for Minister Liesje Schreinemacher was Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), where she was welcomed by Hon. Bryan Acheampong, PhD. GH’s Minister for Food and Agriculture, on behalf of the Government of Ghana. Did you know? The Dutch were probably the first to bring cocoa to the shores of Ghana, the then Gold Coast, in 1815. They attempted unsuccessfully to grow the crop in the coastal area, which turned out to be an unsuitable environment (ref. Ghana Cocoa Board 2000).
