This game is a really fun and short beat-em-up that takes place in the universe of John Wick.

Controls:

  • Gamepads are supported
  • Mobile devices (touchscreens) are supported
  • Keyboard layout:

  • Arrow keys for movement
  • X key for jump
  • C key for attack

Note: Your controller might be supported, kinda depends on the browser / controller - but it's great with a controller if you have one and it works :)

Technical Details / Trivia:

  • The game was created for LOWRESJAM and every frame had to perfectly fit within a 64x64px canvas. We tried to mimick NES style by not using any transparency, a reduced color palette and a 4-channel soundtrack.
  • Every single line of code, music, sound effects and sprites were created within the 2-weeks jam period - aka lots of late night hours of work, but it was a blast and a fun challenge!
  • The code of the game is fully open source at https://github.com/nicolasbize/JohnWick (although the code needs a LOT of polish). The art is available for purchase alongside other really cool artwork at https://momongaa.itch.io/
  • Tools used: Unity, Aseprite, FamiStudio, JSFXR, Audacity, VisualStudio

We hope you enjoy playing this game as much as we enjoyed creating it!

This is fun, a full package that just needs some boxart to get started on 1995's store shelves.

Really consistent, the low resolution quickly gets forgotten when getting into the game. And thanks for the forgiving "Continue?" screens, wouldn't have beaten it otherwise.

I quietly followed the development of this title on the discord :)

Thanks so much for the kind words, thrilled you enjoyed playing it!

This game is so fun!! Great presentation, music, SFX, and juice - and has reminiscent retro UX as well that calls back to games of this style from a year gone by <3 Incredible work on this submission, knocked it out of the park!

Thank you so much, this means a lot! <3
