Joint Memorial 1

Michael PadillaIn 2017, the New Mexico State Legislature passed Senate Joint Memorial 1, legislation drafted and promoted by Future Focused Education, which called on the state to “convene a working group to develop recommendations for a new student assessment policy aligned with the alternative assessment models allowed by the federal Every Student Succeeds Act.”
School Innovation Report

Publisher: Future Focused EducationIn April 2016, we brought together local employers and other stakeholders for a School Innovation Tour. A primary objective of the Tour was to raise awareness in the business community and among other stakeholders about innovative models of teaching and learning. Afterward, we collaborated with Mission: Graduate to interview 18 Tour participants. Findings are summarized in this report.
Positive Youth Development Report

The Tour highlighted schools in Albuquerque that have implemented PYD practices in order to support young people and improve their educational performance. This report focuses on PYD as a strategy that enables young people to reach their potential, now, and as adults.

“If You Ask Me…” Exhibit: Teacher Edition
The “If You Ask Me…” galleries are interactive, augmented reality exhibits that bring student and teacher interviews to life.
How do students learn best? Future Focused wanted answers from the real experts: educators and students themselves. The “If You Ask Me…” project interviewed youth and educators from around the state to understand their unique perspectives.
Two ways to experience the galleries:
In person: viewers scan the exhibit walls with a smartphone camera to make the portraits come alive.
