So many interesting posts in the #luxury business community about giants like Hermès, LVMH, CHANEL, Cartier etc..
But it’s about time to post on new talents that will also shape the future of the Fashion and Luxury industry not only with strong and expensive marketing campaigns but also with creativity and forward thinking!
Congratulations Clara Daguin. You are inspiring the new generation like my students in MSc Luxury and Fashion Management SKEMA Business School
Le Figaro reports that the "Old Money" aesthetic is taking over social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Young people are finding inspiration in the ultra-rich lifestyle portrayed in the Succession series and are making the look their own. Experts, however, prefer to call it "Quiet luxury", and an interpreter par excellence of quite luxury highlights the main problem today, finding manufacturing excellence!

First edition from my monthly blog on Allnews.ch, La finance suisse dans l'e-media out now. En Français, I am afraid. Main points below.
Looking at luxury sector and what the real luxury brands and businesses are, as well as the ones which are not (right on cue in light of today's profit warning from fashion house Burberry).
It's all about desirability, exclusivity, heritage, craftmanship and "the dream". Real luxury is typically French, fashion is often Italian and most of the rest is just aspirational, at best.
Worth remembering, both in luxury as well as investing is this genius quote from Aldo Gucci (from "fashion" (sic) house Gucci): "Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten"
And no, we don't own any fashion companies in our Mosaique and LongRun strategies.

Fourth edition of my monthly "point de vue" on Allnews.ch, La finance suisse dans l'e-media out this morning.
En français, et sur une société très française: Hermès. German and English on the way, with even richer content.
Summary in one sentence: There's fashion, there's luxury and there's Hermès.
Hermès is a company pretty much all of you will know, mainly because its products are very expensive.
But Hermès, its equity as well as its products, are all much more than just expensive. Rather, we think both its products as well as its business model are very much the epitome within their respective fields. Both are very different to anything else or, as Michael Porter called it, differentiated.
Notably differentiated out of their own will, which is even more powerful. Because authenticity is paramount, and Hermès is the apex of authenticity.
Nobody put it better than 5th generation family descendant and former chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas: “I don’t look at what others are doing, I might be influenced”.
Hermès, never change.
Wrong tie, I know, I will change.
