After four years at Vodafone UK I’ve decided to head off for pastures new. It’s been an amazingly rewarding and productive time during which I learned and achieved - together with my fabulous Editorial & Content team and External Comms colleagues - one hell of a lot. I feel very proud. Special shout-out to Editorial team members Alan Lu🐼 Alexander Viner Lynne Swan and Filippo Agostini for all their creative efforts and companionship over this time. Some personal highlights include: * Designing and building the new Vodafone UK News Centre website within three months (with the help of our excellent hosting & design agency Archetype). * Achieving amazing stats by the end of FY23: 2.7 million users, 6.5 million pageviews, 5 mins average time on page with the help of a brilliantly executed paid social campaign by Archetype. Can any other corporate websites beat that?! * Writing a particularly ‘robust’ LinkedIn post for then CEO Nick Jeffery taking on the mast-burning 5G conspiracy theorists during COVID which resulted in more than 200 pieces of news coverage. * Persuading our Energy team that their prototype self-powering mast was a great story deserving of wider attention, which we then made a video about to accompany a press release issued by my External Comms colleagues. It earned tons of traffic and coverage and the footage made it on to BBC News. * Coming up with the idea that a care home singalong simulcast using Vodafone technology would be a nice thing to do during COVID. Welsh warbler Katherine Jenkins led proceedings and the event was a great success. * Working closely with our marvellous Sustainable Business team and charity partners Barnardo's, The Trussell Trust, Refugee Council, Good Things Foundation, British Red Cross to highlight the importance of Vodafone connectivity for refugees, homeless people, food bank customers and other vulnerable groups. We really made a big difference to many people’s lives. * Creating more than 15 pieces of content for the launch of our Digital Parenting Pro parental controls hub, which helped it become the most popular topic we ever covered. * Creating loads of content at COP26 in Glasgow to support our CEO Ahmed Essam Shelbaya as he told the world about Vodafone’s Net Zero ambitions and commitments. * Interviewing long-time hero Sir Lewis Hamilton, one-time Vodafone ambassador. There were many more highlights too numerous to mention here, and too many colleagues and managers to thank individually (I’ll save that for the leaving drinks!), but I do need to say a special thank you to my ‘buddy’ over the last four years Paul Morris, Head of Government Affairs, whose advice, wisdom - and occasional long lunches - were very much appreciated. I’m really looking forward to building something new and taking on a fresh challenge in the Autumn. Thanks Vodafone, it's been a blast. Onwards and upwards! 😊 #WatchThisSpace

That US Hispanic consumers and US Hispanic-owned SMBs are generally keener to adopt digital products and services than the general US population is a well-known fact. However, the gap between aspiration and actual adoption among Hispanic segments, the nuanced purchase-decision process and how it is impacted by factors such as generational status, household composition and industry sub-vertical, the attributes that Hispanic customers value the most from their service providers (it's not price despite what conventional wisdom might suggest), and the boost that adjacent products such as cybersecurity and telehealth can provide when bundled with traditional connectivity products, are far less researched and understood topics. Until now. Read Altman Solon's latest report to understand how the telco industry can capitalize on the very fast-growing US Hispanic opportunity. #Hispanic #SMB https://lnkd.in/e7_M4iK2

Thrilled to share insights from GlobalData Plc's latest forecast on the dynamic landscape of #FixedMobileConvergence (#FMC) and #Multiplay services in the #UnitedStates. 📈 FMC Revenue Surge: #GlobalData anticipates a robust growth trajectory for #USFMC revenue, projecting a compelling 2.97% CAGR from $50.8 billion in 2023 to $58.8 billion in 2028. This surge is attributed to a significant adoption of #cellularservices offered by #cableoperators and the expansive coverage of high-speed #wireless and #fiberoptic #broadband by #telcos. 💡 Key Takeaways: 🌐 Subscriber Adoption: Tammy Parker, Principal Analyst at #GlobalData, says: “Significant mobile subscriber gains by the nation’s two largest cable companies, Comcast and Charter Communications, have dramatically ratcheted up FMC revenues and household penetration in the US." 📶 Wireless and Fiber Expansion: Telcos such as Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T are driving FMC growth through #fixedwirelessaccess (FWA) services and expanding #fiberbroadband footprints. 📉 Multiplay Service Dynamics: On the flip side, the US faces a decline in total multiplay service revenue at a CAGR of -1.25% from $95.3 billion in 2023 to $89.5 billion in 2028. This shift is attributed to changing consumer behaviors, including #cordcutting and cordshaving, as households transition from linear #payTV to #streaming services. 🌐 Strategic Insights: Jesús Romo, Principal Analyst at GlobalData, emphasizes a paradigm shift in multiplay strategies. While doubleplay services are projected to dominate household penetration at 25% in 2028, tripleplay and quadplay services are expected to decline. 👉 Actionable Recommendation: To stay ahead in this transformative landscape, consider integrating FMC strategies and explore 'skinnier' bundles to meet the evolving needs of the always-connected consumer. 💬 Join the Conversation: What are your thoughts on the future of FMC and Multiplay services? Within my 10 years in this telecom industry, I was working with competitive benchmarking on various KPIs. Conjoint studies, price sensitivity and sweet spots, you name it. Was part of my job, to understand and make the right decisions. For a couple of years now, I am away from this extremely sophisticated and challenging environment. I still miss my teams and the beautiful and exciting projects that we did together. I was curious to see how they do. So, I found Orange, Vodafone and Digi that are fighting for territory and profits. No news so far. T remained frozen and weak after the split, while OROC is ready for full integration in Orange. Not doing a thorough, or a deep dive analysis, i take only what we all see, and do a simple comparison. I used last year numbers, and from what i know, not much is changed. (relative to each other). Digi predictions might be for a steeper upwards slope. Will see end of March. With 4x more employees than Orange or Vodafone, RCS-RDS (Digi) deliver 2x more net profit and almost 30% profit margin ( 20% net over Orange, 33% over Vodafone). Each employee of RDS brings in average, more than 25k euro profit for the company. For Orange is around 50k and for Vodafone a negative, -10k. As Vodafone still captures the least of growth, a bit above 2% YoY, and is not capable to becoming profitable for the last decade (not even in '21 and '22 - after massive layoffs at all levels, or after the UPC M&A final integration), i bet it is for sale for some time, and soon will get the buyer`s name. There is another option for Vodafone, to acquire T. Not sure it will hit on numbers, most probably not the ones from below (EBITDA, OFCF), but...... T will discount more than 100mil euros from the already weak profits of Vodafone, making almost impossible for them to recover. There is for sure a lot of services overlaps, estimated around 25% of the total customers base, if not more, a smaller gain in net value added. OROC, brings for Orange, at least for now, a slightly negative impact in overall performance after merger, but still profitable in aggregated numbers. OROC is strong, acting in a market of professional services - ICT - on the steroids. Here is a lot of potential for projects to aim growth and not cost cutting and overall efficiency. Orange might be courageous, and i see now the reason of their CEO profile choice, the switch to a "marketing ".guy What are YOUR predictions? How would you handle it? #telecomindustryromania #orange #vodafone #digi #telekom

As an investment professional, I often look for companies with strong competitive advantages, or "MOATs," that can sustain their market position and profitability over the long term. Recently, Jio's substantial increase in tariff rates has caught my attention as a prime example of this concept in action. Jio's ability to implement significant price hikes with minimal customer churn underscores the low switching costs in the telecom sector. This move not only reinforces their market dominance but also highlights their pricing power. It's a clear demonstration of how Jio, like many industry leaders, leverages its MOAT to drive revenue growth. Reliance's strategic entry into telecommunications parallels its long-standing approach in the oil industry, positioning telecom as a cornerstone of its business for the foreseeable future. This strategic vision ensures that telecommunications will remain a critical revenue driver, much like oil has been for many decades. #InvestmentStrategy #TelecomIndustry #MarketAnalysis #CompetitiveAdvantage #BusinessStrategy #Jio #RelianceIndustries #MOAT #TariffIncrease #CustomerRetention #RevenueGrowth #LongTermInvesting

Jio profit continues rise, 5G subs hit 108M: Jio Platforms claimed its 5G user base topped 108 million subscribers at the end of fiscal Q4 2024 (ending 31 March), with 28 per cent of all wireless data carried on the network. Mukesh Ambani, chair and MD of parent Reliance Industries, noted in its earnings release the performance of the digital services segment was boosted by expansion of subscribers, supported by both mobile and fixed wireless services. Net profit rose 12 per cent year-on-year to INR55.8 billion ($669.6 million), with higher ARPU improving margins. Operating revenue grew 13.3 per cent to INR338.4 billion, which the company said was driven by subscriber growth in mobility and an increase in wireline services leading to a better subscriber mix. Jio Platforms is the holding company of Reliance Jio, the largest mobile player in India by subscribers. ARPU was up 1.6 per cent to INR181.70. Jio said ARPU growth slowed due to an increasing mix of promotional 5G plans, offering unlimited data to subscribers. Having launched 5G in October 2022, the operator first disclosed associated subscriber numbers in August 2023, when had 50 million. Full year capex for Reliance Industries totalled $15.8 billion, down from $17 billion the previous fiscal year, with investments allocated for 5G rollout, expansion of retail infrastructure and a new energy business.
