Thank you for sharing. I would add that it's akin to a kingdom on wheels, operating with the precision of the finest train system. From my personal experience with Ringling Bros, circuses exemplify a well-engrained machine where collaboration is paramount. Individuals from diverse backgrounds and fields of expertise seamlessly unite towards a common goal. My time with the Circus taught me to value every role within the company, recognizing that we don't need to be experts in everything, but rather to learn from and appreciate our colleagues who share the same objectives. Much like members of a circus troupe coordinate their acts to entertain, fostering mutual support within our organizations enables us to collaborate effectively and achieve success together.
Interesting read. I love the comment about touring shows operating autonomously, with support from HQ. It's so common to see an HQ in total control, while being largely unaware of the local challenges at the remote locations.
What a great article! I couldn’t agree more that a Circus is a great way to run a business. Afterall, if we don’t celebrate and orchestrate all of the moving parts, we wouldn’t be able to perform at our best and give audiences the show they deserve.
very good article🙏 I actually always get angry when the word Circus is again used in a negative context…and its happening a lot!
Finally it’s out!

1 moisWhat I truly admire about Cirque du Soleil is the near-to- perfect performance the members can put on day in and day out. Many in the public sector can learn a great deal from this organization, especially how it uses performance psychologists to help artists bring an A-game performance for its audience. Performance psychologists are not only used in the sports arena...imagine the benefits employees could have with performance coaches guiding them along. Perhaps lots of engagement and fulfillment. JR
