    The last hallmark of the year - Double11 has come to a close. Under the impact of economic uncertainty, D11 this year is regarded as one of the most challenging & competing e-com festivals for brands & platforms to land their new narratives. Several focal questions arise - What are the mega shifts we could identify? Who are the emerging winners? What strategic initiatives are made by different platforms and brands? Based on our findings: 📈Despite the declining GDP, D11 experienced slight growth and #Chinese consumers displayed a cautious yet hopeful attitude toward their spending this year. 🏷At both the platform and brand levels, new winners have emerged. While #ecommerce giants maintained their dominance, social commerce saw a rapid expansion, shaping D11 into a more dynamic landscape.     You couldn’t attend #TFWACannes2023, here are WITH’s takes on #TravelRetail updates: 🌏 In a world that's becoming increasingly multipolar, nationality and cultural context have gained prominence. TFWA (Tax Free World Association) Cannes’ opening keynote, "The Cultural Map" by Erin Meyer highlighted the need to adapt our approach to meet the unique expectations of different consumer segments. It's about shifting from a global and institutional perspective to a consumer-centric one, respecting cultural framework along the way. ☕️ Adaptation is critical. The travel retail industry operates in a world deeply rooted in geopolitics and open information flow. Recent tensions between the US and China leading to complex visa procedures, and unexpected challenges like the bedbug crisis in France have disrupted the once-stable travel retail market. 💎 Brands will continue to approach travel retail differently. For some, it's an avenue to create local market awareness and test consumer interest in new product launches. Others leverage it to collect high-quality data or to generate additional revenue. Some are just entering the game. The adaptability of travel retail allows each brand to follow its distinct recipe for success. 🏮 China remains the hot spot. Despite the crackdown on Daigous in #Hainan and economic challenges in China, Chinese travelers remain a cornerstone of travel retail. Factors like ticket prices and limited routes had previously restricted the number of Chinese travelers out of Asia. However, it's predicted that they will return to Europe in 2024, seeking cultural experiences & beyond the traditional peak travel periods. ✈️ Brands are transitioning from an institutional content approach to focus on more integrated traveler journeys. Pre-trip mediatization, enhancing in-airport experiences, and blending travel retail with local markets create a holistic brand experience.
