Want to change the world? Let’s be the change. Every minute, every hour, every day, our thoughts, actions and words have the power to create opportunities that resonate across humanity. We all shape the world through our choices. Many UNESCO Green Citizens have understood this. For example, many projects focus on hydrology and its critical role in preserving our planet. 🇵🇪 As part of the ‘Ancestral Technologies and Climate Change’ project, communities in the Nor Yauyos Cochas nature reserve in the Andes, Peru, are tackling the problem of water scarcity by reviving ancestral traditions. 💧 By reviving an ancient hydraulic system, they have increased water storage and improved irrigation. 🌐 Discover the many projects fighting for the environment on the #UNESCOGreenCitizens website. 👉 https://lnkd.in/ehMPZxHN

Exciting News! A new roadmap for UNESCO World Heritage sites in Europe and North America has been adopted! Following the completion of the Third Cycle of Periodic Reporting (Sep 2022 - Jul 2023), the World Heritage Committee has adopted a Regional Report and a new Regional Action Plan at its 46th session in New Delhi, India. This plan, to be implemented by 2031, promotes a holistic approach to cultural and natural heritage protection and emphasizes collective and interdisciplinary action. It addresses threats like climate change, social inequalities, and armed conflict. Periodic Reporting allows key stakeholders to reflect on the implementation of the World Heritage Convention at various levels. The Regional Action Plans coordinate efforts to preserve these sites for future generations. A big thank you to Ireland and Germany for their invaluable support in this collective effort.
