By using its Enertect coating technology, Schaeffler is setting new standards in the production of bipolar plates for fuel cells. The special coating enables the use of low-cost steel instead of expensive titanium while retaining essential properties such as high electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance throughout the entire operating life of the cell. This makes bipolar plates more efficient, more cost-effective and even more sustainable. This innovative approach not only lowers manufacturing costs but also reduces CO₂ emissions during production by 90 % for the coating and 20 % for the entire bipolar plate. 🌿 A valuable step toward zero-emission in public transport.   From May 20-23, Schaeffler and BRIST Axle S.r.l. showcased a game-changing eCOR225 LF electric axle for zero-emission low-floor buses at ACT Expo in Las Vegas. Equipped with Schaeffler's 800 V continuous hairpin motors, this innovation captured significant attention among over 12,000 attendees.   Here are the key highlights: - Weight saving of over 400 kilograms compared to e-portal axles - Energy savings between 2% and 8%, thanks to high power-to-weight ratio and efficiency - Outstanding torque output up to 37,000 Nm at the wheel - Continuous power up to 510 kW, ensuring powerful and efficient performance - Well-ventilated areas for optimal thermal management   This partnership represents a forward-thinking step toward zero-emission public transport and highlights Schaeffler's commitment to advancing electromobility.   We are excited about the potential of this collaboration. Schaeffler is driving the further development of wind turbine efficiency. As a market leader and strategic development partner, Schaeffler is leveraging its “closed loop engineering” approach to offer far more than the mere provision of bearing solutions for onshore and offshore wind turbines. Working in close partnership with turbine and gearbox manufacturers, we support wind turbine development through state-of-the art system simulation, rig testing under realistic conditions, and field measurement campaigns. In this context, Schaeffler is significantly expanding its testing capacities: In cooperation with LORC (Lindø Offshore Renewables Center) and R&D Test Systems, the world’s most powerful test facility for wind turbine main bearings is being built in Lindø, Denmark. The facility should be ready to run its first test programs by the end of 2025. Schaeffler had decisive input into the specifications for the test rig and will use the facility to test its rotor shaft bearing supports in cooperation with wind turbine manufacturers.
