The "100% Natural" trend from our Type Trends report has multiple meanings – one of sustainable brands seeking to imbue their look with an element of nature, a call-back to their surroundings, or a promise of goodness. With this year’s Type Trends report, we embarked on a journey inspired by the timeless allure of vinyl records. For the art direction, our Graphic Designer Ibrahim Gharib drew from the rich visual language of record sleeves, labels, rave flyers, and genre-specific branding, seeking to convey the essence of music in our exploration of type trends. We wrote about the inspiration and creative process behind the art direction of the report - including collaborations with artists Okocha Obasi, Raissa Pardini, Lucian Stuart-Davidson, and Robin Muir. You can be so perfect, but I think that’s become a detriment to type design and it ends up homogenizing a lot of type design."
